Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything but you can't help
but smile when you see one tumbling down the stairs.

I want to take this opertunity to say:

My father is a herpitologist. I am an amature herpitologist and a venomous handler. I can assure you not a single serpant on that plane in that movie will behave realistically or for most of the movie within its natural abilities....I can tell you this with all confidence from only having seen online info and recordings of trailers alone.

Half those snakes would try to kill each other before they would try to kill you. The movie is retarded in its sory line and basis. I do not care about isolated incedents where one or two people may have been bitten by an escaped reptile. If they did, it was becuase they freaked out and scared it into a self preservation state of mind...probably becuase they have seen to many asanine movies like this one, without having the good sence to before or after actualy look up the facts. nonono2.gif

And do not start thinking I am nuts(like steve irwin or austin stevens or any of those lunatics),
I have worked under wyane fawly, joe beneshack and dr. bush, I have thick leather-rubberized-balistic-kevlar-insualated-higharm-gloves, a similiar chest apron, and titanium, illuminum, carbon fiber, construct tongs and L hooks, both in large and small, and 10 years experience.

Please do not take any thing you see in that movie (if you feel like it is actualy something worth veiwing Whatever_anim.gif ) as any thing more then all parties involved having taken extreem creative licsence with something that may have some factual basis(very little).

There is no need to go lopping the heads off serpants in your back yard with a shovel. A venomous snake will have a distinctive head (you will clearly see the bulge of its venom glands).

Below are three photos of venomous snakes (headshots):

Its the difference between retrievers head and a bull dogs head. now there are few snakes you are not liekly to come in contact with (unless you live in austrialia or something lol) that it could be hard to tell by this.... in that case just give them their space...If an animal needs to be removed call animal controll and if you have to do something about it right away(dogs or small children or something in danger). try coaxing it with a long stick or something into a large box or bucket laid on its side and then use your tool(about 4-6 feet long) to tip it right ways. and then call animal controll.

Now if you have no real option but to kill the snake. well okay, but cutting the head off is not good enough. the head can and will still bite for potentially hours after it is cut off. I have had to kill a southern pacific more then once( mostly from horses in danger, becuase of being spooked). In one case I smashed the head after cutting it off flat as two pieces of thin card bored... eyes hanging out of sockets, skinf shreaded exposing muscle and bone, skull and brain completely crushed...this thing was still trying to nip(its reactive to to high pent up stores of fuel in the muscles and acids released from stress cuasing contractions and convultions...not concious behavior).

You must bury the head in a narrow hole at least two feet deep(so pets, like dogs wont dig down to them).

Sorry for the speech but I am sick of movies like this, and the wrong ideas people let them selves get from them.

THAT'S THE ENTIRE *&^$ POINT.

It's Samuel L. *&^$ Jackson with *&^$ snakes on a *&^$ plane. It's an hour and a half of fan service for those who think "hey, cool" upon reading my previous sentence. It's not "PMG TEH SNAKEZ KIL U"

QUOTE(Samuel L. Jackson)
It’s a real shame that a lot of people can’t seem to remember when they were kids and they went to a movie that didn’t necessarily have to be On the Waterfront or Gone With the Wind. You went to a movie to see the Wolfman chase people. Or big spiders jump out of stuff.

Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

Yeah, even the trailers over here show its a movie for fun, rather than anything serious. Its pretty much scenes played to a retro song I cant remember, giving the distinct impression of a "Hey, come see me! Its mindless fun! You'll love it!".

okay then..well in the spirit of that maybe i'll throw some pics up here of some real natorius snakes from my own collection.

Heck we even have a lyre snake. It is in the mexican cat eye family and a little hard to find. they look like a great basin gopher snake or a pacific bull snake(both in the rat/corn snake family). They are fun snakes to have becuase even though they look like a comon snake(save the lyre shape on the top of their head). they are in fact rear fanged venomous snakes whos bite is really no worse then a bee sting. but every few years you get a rumor going around that a rattler and a gopher breed and some one got bit lol.

I have always been a little annoyed with these movies (like anaconda...the whole reason it is a water snake is that it is difficult for it to support its weight and move with any real speed on land)....but I guess if its just for fun, what ever hehe.

In all honesty I dont think this movie has any basis of truth. I know it's a film but it's extremely exaggerated in snakes trying to kill people. Movies are good when there is some basis or maybe something that isnt farfetched...but what kind of person would have a snake be loaded in a panel where a light is and have the glass break out and the snake be ok? I mean it's just a little out there to believe, even if it is a film. No offense to anyone that went and saw the movie. This isnt my kind of movie.

This movie was just over-hyped because the title makes it sound like a movie from the 50's.

And I like that quote from Sammy, Phieta. bluetongue.gif

If people were to follow a the hype of this movie and actually going out and exterminating snakes...well we might have another case of fear driven hysteria based upon a movie that has no real fact or truth. Take Jaws as an example. The movie scared so many people that people were actually afraid of going to the beach and into the water. When Jaws was made I have to admit it was a good movie, but it cemented in the idea that the Great White is a man eater. They are the biggest predatorial sharks in the water yes, but are they man eaters? No. The notion that sharks are nothing but vicious, mindless, blood thirsty killers is a bunch of bs. Sadly people dont always read up on the facts and truth about these kind of things and go on believing what a movie, tv show, or book of fiction told you. All in all, no one is perfect...but hopefully this is not another case of the Jaws hysteria back in the day when the movie first came out.

I just looked through that link.. rofl.gif I liked these (what titles for past movies would be like with the 'snakes on a plane' style):

'The Sixth Sense' becomes
Little Boy Sees Dead People

'Crash' becomes
Everybody Is Racist

'Requiem for a Dream' becomes
People Doing Drugs

'Forrest Gump' becomes
Man on a Bench

'Beautiful Girls' becomes
Young Natalie Portman Causes Men to Have Impure Thoughts

'Brokeback Mountain' becomes
Cowboys in a Tent

snakes on a plane cant ahve the effect jaws had, jaws was designed to be like that, snakes on a plane is clearly a screw around film and even in some areas classed a comedy ;\

Its like idiots who run around with a gun are obviously heavily influenced by the gta series plaguing our minds
