Funimation Films is releasing the Fullmetal Alchemist movie on DVD mid september. Some locations will be lucky and get an early screening at their movie theater. Alamo Drafthouse, being the best theater EVAR and only 4 minutes from where I live, will have an early screening. You can bet that i'll be there biglaugh.gif

Check for your city, or neighboring city, or state. What's stopping you? bluetongue.gif

Edit: Huh, noticed a mistake on the title and I can't edit it. I'll be back later to fix that...

I put FUNimation Films on notice awhile back for three reasons:
  • At the time wasn't showing in California or any of our neighboring states. They added a Los Angeles theater later on, but that's still a good ~320 miles away. San Francisco has tons of anime fans (enough for Viz Media and BART to strike an interesting advertising deal) and it's much closer, so hey, why not?
  • The website sorts theaters by chain, and not even in alphabetical order. Why the hell?
  • For the love of God, why does "TEH MOVEE LOLZZ!!!!!!" need to be added to the title? We know it's a movie. We's not stupids.
And yeah, I'll be getting the DVD. I'm waiting until November though for the (not officially confirmed but listed by Amazon and other sites) Collector's Edition.

That reminds me... I still need to get the rest of the TV series. 9 volumes to go icon_sweatdrop.gif (What can I say? I wait for good deals. bluetongue.gif)

Collector's Edition on Amazon. Different cover from the normal release; same cover as the Japanese Collector's Edition, but with the English logo. So I'm guessing it's real bluetongue.gif

Only $25 (50% off!) if you preorder now. Not bad.

EDIT: Hm, Amazon must be having an FMA sale or something. All of the other FMA DVDs (except the "Starter Set" tins) are ~$20 each (that's new from Amazon — not 3rd-party!). If I had money I'd take advantage of this.

EDIT2: Yes, I'm somewhat of a DVD whore...

Aww man, that was a great movie!!

Everyone was into it, cheering for their favorite characters, some cosplay, an overall great time. Watching anime is best with fans around.

The icing on the cake was that Vic Mignogna himself (FMA's Edward Elric, Saiyuki's Kougaji, Full Metal Panic's Kurz Weber, etc etc etc) came to the Drafthouse! Funimation Films provided posters of the Marquee for everyone attending the screening (roughly 200+!) and Vic did signatures, Q&A, pictures. Forgot the camera, but will always keep the memory, and the poster!
