Dud, UK is freakin awsome. I whent there before. It is my kind of place. You can basicly do what ever you whant there (well almost).

Also in the US everyone dresses up and acts way to "prepy". In the UK everyoen minds tehre own busness and has a good time doing so. Also there alote wilder and fun.

You have a pretty romantic view of the UK.

This is how Finlands education system works

Kindergarten.

It's not called elementary school here, if i translate it it's Basic school which includes these days:

1st Grade (starts when you're 7 years old.)
2nd Grade
3rd Grade
4th Grade
5th Grade
6th Grade

After 6 years of school you move to another school but it's still basic school.

7th Grade
8th Grade
9th Grade (ends normally at the year when you're turning 16)

And basic school here is the education you have to get. you can drop out from Basic school if you've been there for 10 years.( which means you've been left at class a few times)
So, when you have finished 9th grade then you're free to do whatever you want. but here's a few alternatives what to do after 9th grade:

-Go to technical school where you start practicing for a job.
-Go 3 years more of school for a starters, and i have no clue what it's called, maybe something like upper secondary school.
-Start working.
-Stay home and do nothing.

After you've been 3 years at some place, if getting more educated you go to a university.

Then in Finland we don't use letters when we get report cards we have numbers, from 4 to 10

4=disqualified (that means that in the end of the year you have to do a test that you've got to get atleast a "6" in it, and if you don't get a "6" you get keeped on the grade you're on.(you' don't lvl up rofl)
two fours on a report card at the end of the year =automaticly kept on grade.

5 =not good but it isn't disqualified either.

6=getting better...

7= medium

8= good

9= very good

10= the best you can get. (exelent)

Then after you have done 9th grade and want in to another school they put limits, an average value limit.

This is how it work here.

So now i would like to hear what your letters in your report cards mean, please.

Rs stats:

Att: 90/90
Str: 90/90
Def: 99/99
Hp: 93/93
Pray: 70/70
Sum: 50/50
Combat: 121 p2p 115 f2p

Let me see if I can add anything.

In the United States, there's also something called "Pre-kindergarten," which is, unsurprisingly, before kindergarten. It's not required and not always available everywhere. Kids usually start that around 4 or 5.
Kindergarten is the first required grade, and is usually started around 5 or 6.

Students can skip grades if they get good enough grades. I truthfully don't know the specific details.

Grades are usually on this scale:
  • A This is the best possible. The number equivalent is 90%-100%.
  • B The next. Percentage equivalent: 80%-89%
  • C Percentage equivalent: 70%-79%
  • D Sometimes this isn't used; you go from a C directly to failing (Like my school). Percentage equivalent: 60%-69%
  • F Failing. Getting two of these makes you get held back a grade. Percentage equivalent: 0%-59%

College is apparently your university. It's not required or anything. Colleges usually require a certain grade point average and a SAT score. The SAT is taken by seniors (12th graders) and it's the same test across the U.S. although they have made it harder so it's not the same 'level' every year.

Ooo.

1= That's usually what you get if you don't even write your name on a test
2= If you've tried, and gotten some points, this is what you get.
3= Below average. Still, most people get this and 4.
4=Above average. It's pretty good.
5=Exellent. This is most of the answers correct.
6=Perfect. Everything correctly++.

And there's of course +/-, but 6 is most.

PS: You can also get 3/4 or 4/3, it means you're on the limit 3+/4-.

Heh, Canada is more awesome than all of you bluetongue.gif

Okay.. so not all of Canada.. just Saskatoon. ANYWAY

Elementary is K-8, Highschool is 9-12. Why bother having a middle school anyway? More money, more construction, more space... stupid. One can always expand current highschools if needed.

The UofS seems really picky.. so most people just join an apprenticeship or go to a tech school or another college. Though our university is awesome, and CompSci grads are guaranteed a job upon graduation if they aren't offered one outside of the university bluetongue.gif

So, in short, I am mo' bettah. Thanks!

We have abolished letter grades.. strict percentages now. And we don't do grade skipping, instead, we offer advanced programs. Stay in your grade and learn more while you are at it.

Oh, and by the way, all you not-Americans, please stop refering to the states as America... they are the UNITED STATES of America. Canada is also part of North America, and we are way different. Same with South America.. there are many different peoples there, and something tells me they all have different lifestyles. If you want to refer to the States, then refer to them, not all of our two continents. Thanks.

That... is extremely disturbing. bluetongue.gif

Anyway, I guess I'm a bit bored so I'll post up about New Zealand. Most schools run systems like this:

Kindergarten (from about 3-5 years old)

Primary School
- Year 1
- Year 2
- Year 3 (Standard 1)
- Year 4 (Standard 2)
- Year 5 (Standard 3)
- Year 6 (Standard 4)

Intermediate School
- Year 7 (Form 1)
- Year 8 (Form 2)

High School
- Year 9 (Form 3)
- Year 10 (Form 4)
- Year 11 (Form 5)
- Year 12 (Form 6)
- Year 13 (Form 7)

To enter into university, you need credits from some standards in Level 1 and Level 2 NCEA (NZ grading system). Passing NCEA is simple so if you want a really easy certificate of education, come to New Zealand. bluetongue.gif

If anyone reading this is bored enough, they can find out about NZ's shoddy educational system here.

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^

How many five-year-olds could you take in a fight?

Congratulations. You figured out how Chris and I pulled the term "Yanker" out of our collective {expletive antidisestablishmentarianized by Cspace}. In other words, we turn into nine-year-olds when we converse:
