Well I hate how the voting is done. Each state has a representative that takes the votes.Basicly whatever person who has the higher majority of votes is the one who the representative from that state votes fr althugh that may not always be the case. And the other forty-nine states gather and vote for whoever got the higher majority. Thus they send it in and the new president is elected.I rather it be every vote counts.

If you don't know what you're voting for, then don't. One should still try to make every effort to know where each candidate stands.

*votes to legalize weed*

You realize that such a bill simply means that people who are diagnosed with ailments that require marijuana as treatment can then grow it themselves and nothing more? If you don't need it, it's illegal, and you don't get it for free, you can simply grow it.

Not always; there have been movements to turn it into a "controlled substance" like alcohol or tobacco. And even then, it's still illegal at the national level. (Here in California we "legalized" medical marijuana in 1996, but the feds keep jumping on people who have a prescription and grow it for personal use.)

Hai, just Ruckus here reminding you to vote NO on Amendment C (If applicable) so that quasi-marriages are still alive. If it passes, we're still going to live together, you can't stop that.

If your state is also voting on an initiated movement 6, I'm also encouraging you to vote NO.

Those are both South Dakota thingies. People in other states might be voting on similar bills, but not the same ones — they're changes to state laws. (For instance, we also have an abortion bill on the ballot today, Proposition 85 — but it's not "make abortion illegal"; it's "make minors notify their parents before having an abortion." I recommend voting NO.)

(Relatedly, I saw a bumper sticker today that read "Make abortion unnecessary, not illegal." I like.)

Also, a very appropriate cartoon:

I have no intentions of voting today since I am a Canadian citizen, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this subject. I hate to break it to you but the list that you had there knocks out about 99% of the eligible votes of the US.

Would you really want the fate of the country decided by 1 million votes?

Everyone has the right to vote and should exercise that right. In fact you should be happy you even have the right to vote, in many countries you are not given that right.

.. o.O If those million votes are all informed people then yes.

Would you rather the fate of our country be decided by 1 million people who know what they're talking about or 300 million people who have no clue what each proposition or candidate says?

Ok, I'll take this to a smaller scale then for a different light on the situation. I look at the political ridign that I live in in Canada. There are about 60,000 eligible voters. That means that if only 1% of people vote we have 600 people voting.

Now out of those 600 people the votes are going to be split between various parties. I've used the same percentages from our last election.

Conservative Party of Canada = 326 Votes
New Democratic Party = 121 Votes
Liberal Party of Canada = 108 Votes
Green Party of Canada = 27 Votes
Independant = 10 Votes
Christian Heritage Party of Canada = 5 Votes
Communist Party of Canada = 2 Votes

Now this is a riding that is very conservative and they always get more than 50% of the vote. This time it was 54%. There are a lot of ridings where the elected person will only recieve about 30-40% of the vote.

Now in the riding that I've stated all it would take is for 327 out of 60,000 people to get together, create their own party and now they can elect themselves in with whatever agenda that they want. Fortunately over 37,000 people voted, so it would take more than 20,000 people to organize together to create a party. And well since 37,000 of the voters are already voting they would have to choose 20,000 from a pool of 23,000.

I knew that some states weren't even voting on it, and I realize that it was going to be called something other than Number 6, that's why I explained a little...What with Amendment C, you'd think it'd be the same...

As an update from what happened--

The abortion law was voted "NO" today, abortions are still legal in South Dakota.

However...

Amendment C passed, and now all quasi-marriages are going to be kaput, pretty much. This doesn't just affect the gays and the lesbians, this affects everyone, that's what they meant by quasi...This is what happens when people don't understand things and then say "Oh! Damn gays, let's get rid of them *marks yes*" good job, retard, now all of the people under civil unions are {expletive ninja'd by Cspace}ed too!

All in all, I'm sad and angry. I suppose it's a good thing I don't intend on living here for the rest of my life, because I want the chance to be able to marry whomever I want, be it a man or a woman. So I'm upset, but the bright side is I don't have to stay for the rest of my life.

I think I'll go find my church's priest and start mocking him now...

I don't think they're allowed to grow their own plants. It's given in pill form, isn't it?

America is wrong in some way's,and right in some.Personally i blame congress.Like the whole take away "christ" in "christ"mas, and take out under god in the pledge of alligence.I may not be christian or religious for that matter but it is good to have faith and relgion. That is an example how congress and the government are "politically"Incorrect. This is just my opinion though.Vote if you want or don't vote i personally don't care. thumb.gif

@ Ferret: Hell if I know...I just go by what I'm told...

@ Zanis: My excuse for staying here in America is that paintball anywhere else sucks. e.e Japan is a wonderful place (I've been there, awesome place.) but violence is pretty much next to none...No hunting. No paintball. Only airsoft (Which is paintball on ADD medication.)

I will only vote if it is in my best interest to make a change. I am not a sheep that follows the herd and votes solely upon advertisments, politics, and the parties. In fact, my party to this day even after a year is still undetermined.

Whoa, whoa hold up there Ruckus. Dont go mocking your priest, no matter how much you dont like him, you'll just be lowering yourself down to a level that would make what your church does justifiable. What I mean is that you go and do something to mock them, it gives them more ammunition to fire back at people who are gay, bisexual, and/or lesbian. Two wrongs dont make a right, no matter how much we want to throw it in a person's face and mock them. icon_sweatdrop.gif

What I have to say about Hilary Clinton is this, don't run for president. She among other people like the infamout lawyer Jack Thompson label gamers as impulsively violent people with little or no sense of right and wrong. Hate to say it, but according to an article on Tom's hardware, the mainstream gamer is a women in her 30s to early 40s; playing games like Bejeweled, Dynomite, and Puzzle Bobble. Yeah it
s all fine and dandy that your against violent acts committed by people that use video games as an excuse for their actions. But going outright and trying to restrict video game sells to minors and quite possibly trying to ban games like Canes Canem (Aka Bully,) GTA San Andreas, Unreal Tournament, Quake 4, Battlefield 2, etc. etc. is not the way to put a harness on the violent acts committed by adolescents. Up to it's entirety I think it's up to the parent's and the discretion of the adolescent to make a decision based upon whether they are going to be influenced by this game and go out commiting a hanes act.

Hopefully the Democrats will think of a way to get our blasted economy out of the toilet. Of course it's doing better overall, but take into consideration, the federal spending, military budget, and the war over seas, we're really paying out the wazoo and our country is headed towards an extreme deficit in 2020-2025. Which in one point would be really bad for the nation. What if we were indebted to a country that hates our living guts? It shows that the President and the government shot themselves in the foot, not only that, but it makes everyone else look bad in the process.

Well all that said and done, there is that classic joke about Congress. If progress means to go forward, then what is Congress for? grnwacko.gif
