GvG

I know there have been some attempts in the past, but none have been successful. Moo tried and so did Ariana. This was mainly because we didn't have enough people with level 20 characters and have all 200 attribute points. About 9 months onwards, we definitely have access to enough characters. Another thing is that we have a few people with alot of experience and knowledge about the game now and we have a new alliance. So overall, I think we have everything needed to try out GvG.
The number one aim for DoA, when GvGing, will be to have fun, and not to take it too seriously. No matter what we've done, that has always been our aim.
We could use our alliance to train, and gain experience in competitive setttings. We have some people such as Goto, Tanny, and Andrew who know alot of the skills inside out, and I'm sure they can develop effective strategies for us to use. The final thing we need are those players who have level 20 characters and 200 attribute points to become more active. At the moment, we don't have enough people active to make a team. And we only need 8!
So, for those who are seriously thinking of participating, simply reply with the names and profession of any max attribute level 20 characters you have.
Initially, we can go skill capping together, so we can run some decent builds. Then, fingers crossed, we can try out GvG!
Here are some links to help us with the basics of GvG, from www.guildwars.com:
NPC's
Basics of designing a GvG build
Balanced builds - I think this is what we'll be looking to use initially
GvG defense
There are usually some good builds floating around www.gwonline.com as well as www.guildwarsguru.com.
If anyone can see anymore good links then feel free to post them. You can also watch battles using the observer mode. I've been watching a bit recently. I've noticed that nearly all monks are Mo/A mainly using Return to get them out of trouble.
I guess I'll add myself here:
Groban Star: Elementalist/(any)
Monk Sunnah: Monk/(any)
Lene Djaksson: Warrior/(any)
Pobody Is Nerfect: Ranger/(any)
ll Ryu Hayabusa lll: Assassin/Mesmer

I'd love to try it out, but ... with my current {expletive hax0rd by Cspace}box of a computer, it'd be a little bit of a struggle. I'll be getting a new computer in the next few months, so if this idea is still up and running, i'd join for sure
If anything, i'd be using my Necro, it's the only lvl 20 character I have.
So yeah... I'd join, just not right now. =)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I don't think I could match up to Tanny, Andrew or you when it comes to knowledge, and I'm certainly pretty hopeless when it comes to PvP.
Still, if people want GvG then I guess I'll just have to learn, a bit of practice and maybe I won't be so bad at it.
My details in the member list aren't too badly outdated, but just for the record. The PvE characters I have with all the attribute points are a W/Mo, a N/Me, a E/Me and a A/W. I'm not really confident with anyone when it comes to PvP, but I spend the majority of my time in PvE as either a hammer whammo, axe whammo or a blood/curses Necro. I tend to prefer playing a direct part in battles, I'm not very good in a supporting role.

It's a shame about your computer, but it'll be great to have you in our team when you get your new one

I could imagine you saying something like that

But, I have to say, you really do have good knowledge. Just look at the time you beat Tanny in a 1vs1 scrimmage. You changed your secondary profession to Necro and caught him off guard! I can't remember what skills you used now, but that was a smart move! And well, I'm still learning about the game. I have a bit of experience in Fort Aspenwood, thanks to Tanny. But that's about it!

I don't mind what I play, to be totally honest. I'd enjoy a supporting role with my Paragon or Elementalist as much as I'd enjoy a direct role with my other characters. Problem with my Paragon is that it's still not off the Island of Istan yet, and I got it the first day it came out! I haven't had much time to play recently, but as soon as it's level 20 and has all 200 attribute points, I wouldn't mind playing a supporting role at all.

Actually, first time I beat Goto and then he decided to use his Necro... but changed the secondary to a Warrior so I was basically fighting a Hammer Necro with spell-shutdown and limited skill-shutdown spells.
However... I could never beat Ariana in game knowledge. She's always several steps ahead of me.
But I guess I can think of some strategies. I'll work my brain whenever I have the free time since I got the hols starting now but exams beginning next week. So I'll do what I can.
Oh and Wasim... go with Elementalist. You're really good with that Air Magic.
I can go with most professions... apart from Dervish, Assassin or Elementalist really. Those're the classes I haven't really focused on so I'm a little weak there. Otherwise I can just create a PvP character to use since I got a lot of the useful skills from the other professions and if I need to get some other ones, I can just unlock them with Balthazar points.
But the classes I'll choose for PvP are really Mesmer, Monk or Ritualist. With Mesmer I can basically go anything, with Monk and Ritualist I can heal and I can also attempt to use Binding Rituals with a Ritualist but I'm not too sure how effective that'd be in GvG.

If you don't have Factions or Nightfall, you can't use the classes specific to those expansions. A stands for Assassin from Factions, and D stands for Dervish from Nightfall. If you do have these games, then when creating a new character you should pick the campaign which has the class you want to play as. So pick Factions for an Assassin or Ritualist, and Nightfall for a Dervish or Paragon.

Ahh. I have a really bad memory as you can tell...

Considering you've never beat her, and that you're probably one of the smartest, it would be ideal to have Ariana back. Moo also has awesome game knowledge too, but he's been inactive, because he's bored of Guild Wars and his computer is broken along with the fact that he can't run it on his laptop

Anyway, so far, we have four people, if we want to start very soon: Tanny, Goto, Andrew and me. That's half of a full team. So, that means we need four more!
Ratty will get a new computer soon, and Moo might be able to get his computer fixed soon too. So that means we could have 6. Then that leaves two more!
Xmadole. I would recommend that you finish the storyline first, so you can unlock most of the skills. These can then be used by your PvP characters. Although I wouldn't mind you coming along, PvP characters only begin with a few skills, and this makes it very difficult to adjust your build. Going through the storyline first, and unlocking all of the different skills then allows you to adjust your builds. It took me about 5 months to unlock all of the skills from prophecies on my elementalist!
Alternatively, you could just PvP to death and gain Balthazar faction. You can then use this faction to unlock skills, weapon mods, runes and other things. I think normal skills cost 1k Balthazar faction and Elite skills cost 3k Balthazar faction.
So, with Xmadole, that'd be seven

Still, if people want GvG then I guess I'll just have to learn
Goto. Obviously it would be great to have you with us, but nobody is forcing you to come. If you prefer not to come, then that's fine. I'm not trying to discourage you in anyway, but it's just the way you said it, made it look like we were forcing you or something

Anyway. If more people can't make it immediately, would you guys want to try some games in the team arena? I think we only need 4 people for a team there. I'm not sure though.

Well I don't PvP because I'm bad at it, and I'm bad at it because I don't PvP. It'd probably be fun to give it a try and get a bit better, hehe.
Team arena matches could quite well be a good way to get some PvP basics in, even though I'm sure it's quite different in the specifics to GvG.

I haven't played guild wars in forever. I'd love to join you, but I'm only close to level 20. (19, I think) I also don't have all 200 points. I shall work towards it though, so that maybe I can join some point.
This was totally out-dated.
Now it's updated.
I think?
Yeah.

Nice.
