So Gary decided to hang around and wait an hour for me since he had nothing better to do and felt like driving me home. I finished at 8.30pm and we went to his car and got in and just talked and then... his car wouldn't start. 
We went around asking everyone for jumper leads but in the end he had to call up his dad to come and rescue us.

This is the fourth time in a row I've checked LOTPW after a bit of an absence, and the first thing I've seen is Tanny talking about Gary. Good thing Nika doesn't know about the forums, or she'd be feeling very upset.
Also: In Queensland some of the taxis are orange, and they say 'yellow cab' above them. Crazy place...
