Cruel, just... Cruel.

It always amazes me how poeple could even comprehend doing something like that, let alone following through with it. It's even worse to think it's the girls' own mother.
What I wonder is how something like that could possibly go unnoticed for so long, particularly with all the neighbours' complaints.
And, in my opinion, the worst part of the whole affair: the most the mother will face is five years in jail. She's completely destroyed one life, and permanently marred (if they too aren't destroyed) two more, and the most she'll get is five years in jail?
All hail the justice system, eh?

The girls won't ever be "normal"... After seven years with no social interaction with others or exposure to language, they probably won't learn it except at a very simple level, if at all... Oh, and it seems they can't even be in normal light since they were in the dark for seven years.
My God. I mean, I can't even see how you can do this to a stranger, let alone your own children. A horrible, horrible person.
What's the worst part? Probably the fact that the authorities ignored the father and neighbors worries. Father hasn't even seen his daughters in years, and they probably don't even recognize him.
Five months to five years? Five years is apparently maximum. Pathetic...

No, it was five months and five years. Five years is likely the minimum
But I agree, that's totally horrible. It's almost amazing how very deranged some people can become, to lock away their own children for seven years, during which time they treat them poorly...

My mistake.

I personally think a lovely soundproofed isolation chamber would be a good place for her. Five to ten years of the only contact you have is someone pushing a plate of food through a slot without speaking and you push the plate out when you're done.

You'd go insane and kill yourself before you lived out the sentence.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
