Be sure to contact me if you want a gallery. Members have been able to manage their own galleries for a bit, and still can if they request one to be made.

Members can also manage more than one (I think I set it at seven per member, off the top of my head). While there can be multiple GW galleries managed by different members, just keep in mind that for a single member those extra galleries would need to be for different purposes. They can be other games, a reality gallery, a creativity gallery, or whatever else.

But I sense that some may want GW galleries, so I figured that I'd post this reminder here.

I don't suppose there's some way to have a single gallery and have multiple members able to add to and edit it? Not have it free for anyone to do so, but a permissions list of some sort. Not sure if that's going to be possible under our current system, but if it is it'd be pretty cool. We've had a screenshot topic for quite a while, and recently a few people have been posting shots of their characters. It'd be great to be able to put them together orderly in a couple of different galleries, but not be reliant on one person to keep it updated.

While I'm at it... Random plug for Wasim's Armour Gallery! Take some screenshots of your characters and put them in there, it's pretty cool to see what everyone plays as.

For Goto's comment, he meant that one person has an album, and multiple people can post up screenshots in that album. For example, we could have an official "GW Armor Gallery", where multiple people can images to it.

It's possible for me to provide a shared gallery, but the only way to feasibly do it is to limit it by member group. Unfortunately I don't think that will be ideal for this.

If we have enough GW-centered galleries, I believe I can create a subcategory where all GW galleries would exist. That may as well be a single GW gallery, just divided among those managing their screenshots.

Hmm.. Well it's not really ideal, but I suppose it might still be possible to have a shared gallery that either smods or smods+mods could post in, and leave it up to good faith that non-GW people would leave it alone. Then get our member-status people to send the pictures in through someone else. It's just that I know when there's only one person capable of keeping something up to date that person tends to get forgetful, or lazy, or disappears.

I've received a few questions about it during the past week from those who didn't even know the gallery was updated. It's an entirely new system, and is designed to organize members' own albums. They can freely upload to them as long as they don't exceed the current memory limit, and in doing so can claim images as their own and have their own place where only their images are visible. There's an enhanced comment system, and the images are better organized than previously. The gallery is also integrated into everyone's profiles.

Having to go through moderators would defeat the purpose, and to tell the truth I'm not sure what would be gained.

It's very easy for members to maintain a gallery, easy for moderators to start their own, and members can receive one by simply asking me and providing a name and description. Only four gelleries were made so far by anyone other than me, and the new system has been up ever since the forums were upgraded. As with the blogs, many simply haven't tried the feature. I think that anyone interested in the gallery should give it a shot, it's quite a bit better than what we had previously. I'd think that having one's own gallery would be a good thing... When it comes to screenshots, instead of having some big place where a lot of random stuff exists, a member can post images to follow his/her progress or to have some other theme. It's easy to navigate, and finding GW screenshots would still be easy, even when browsing those in multiple galleries.

If we'd like to organize them, why not just have a pinned thread to link to them?

Hmm.. Guess so. I quite liked the idea of organizing the GW pictures by what kind of screenshot they are, rather than by who took them. I guess it's still better than the alternative though, and if we have a pinned topic linking to the different galleries then it might work okay. Just ends up seeming a bit disorganised, then again I haven't taken a look at how the new system works so I should do that before jumping to conclusions.
