Maybe we deserve one? The awards thing can go in there, along with whatever else we get going ("convoking" bluetongue.gif). It could also promote GvG stuff, Alliance gathering, etc..

Hmm.. I'd thought about suggesting it, I just have the feeling that if they were in a sub-forum they'd get less views. I know I don't tend to regularly check sub-forums unless they're fairly constantly active, and something like an events board doesn't tend to be. As it is people check out event topics as they check out every other DoA topic, it takes less thought to keep up to date with them. I mean if we had heaps of activity here then it'd stop them being buried, but I don't think we're at that point yet. Just my thoughts though.

I'm not against sub forums in faction forums (if needed), but when it comes to events I've always tried to push the use of the Event Board. It would be to every faction's benefit to have events at the top, where everyone looks if they're seeking events regardless of faction. That way an event would also be seen by those who only passively play a game, or those who may have stopped playing but could sign on for a guild event.

Having a GW-specific event sub forum would compel members of the faction to ignore the Event Board, which defeats the purpose but may also prevent GW events from being posted there for others to see. Also, while DoA is fairly active, there aren't really enough threads being posted to justify it... The only purpose would be for organization, and it would just make DoA's forum seem less active.

Don't get me wrong, secondary threads should be posted in a faction's forum in addition to those in the Event Board. We don't need too much organization though, and unless it's necessary to pull a category of threads out of a forum, it probably shouldn't be done.

I know this wasn't always the way I did things, and a couple old factions got forums along those lines. Beyond the necessary forums on the board index, I used to think to create the forum first and then find the activity later. After time went by I've found that it's better to go the other way around, and not to create sub forums until there's a need in the present. That's when I went around merging many of the dead forums scattered around, which all sounded necessary at the time but just weren't used in reality.

It's not a bad idea, but we should just wait until it's needed. thumb.gif
