A lot of people wonder what the best way to make money is in Runescape. I think after hearing a few players opinions and facts, this might clear a few things up.

The main thing is, the Runescape economy is down. Prices are all coming down, and so is demand. It gets confusing at some times, what to do.

All in all, I have no idea either bluetongue.gif

What do you think?

My ways of getting money are fishing and theiving.

This is just my opinion, just because my skills are high in these levels. It's different for everyone because of their skills. Some people can make a lot of money mining, but that is because they have like 87 mining.

I think the main ways of earning money are fishing (with cooking) and mining. Just because it's a lot easier than crafting, herblaw, etc.

Thieving. The skill was pretty much designed for making money, and not much else.

Mining. Easy enough to level, but getting coal on F2P is REALLY hard, and selling those coal certs more often than not takes quite a bit of time. Iron certs are even harder to sell, though easier to obtain. Rune ore prices are low, often 10k or less. Hardly worth the time to get to level 84 or 85. Quite a hassle to sell too.

Smithing. Until you can start smithing the upper end Addy stuff, selling the coal needed makes you more money. And it's pretty hard to sell Addy stuff. Once you hit some of the good Rune items, then you can make a decent sum of money. But if you factor in the price and the time it took you to get to those levels, it's not worth it at all. Besides, even though Rune is still the most expensive F2P armor, it's a pain in the butt to try and sell it, because practically ANYONE can afford it these days. Rune is easily the most common armor in terms of sets in circulation.

Fishing. USED to be good, but then prices dropped like a ten-ton brick off a twenty story building, because PKers didn't want to pay a decent price for them. Why? Friggin' autoers sold their thousands of certs for dirt cheap, because they didn't want to take their time to sell, and they knew that they would have another thousand or so real soon without lifting a finger. That's another discussion though...

Cooking. Pretty much pointless unless used in conjunction with fishing. Which, needless to say, is really stupid. Again, another discussion...

Crafting: As I've learned from Rabk's experience, selling amulets is quite possibly one of the hardest things to do in RuneScape. 'Nuff said.

Herblaw. P2P only, so a MUCH smaller (if richer, usually) consumer base. Also the hardest skill in all of RuneScape to level up in, I think (setting aside spending a few hundred thousand to buy your herbs, few people can really afford to do that).

Monster Drops. Honestly, unless you are high 70s+ AND P2P, this really isn't a good way to make money. If you are though, it can be a somewhat decent source of income.
The Few. The Proud. The Jews.

Thieving, easy to make 150000gp an hour, and you do not need to do anything before it to start (ie, to smith you need ores, to cook you need fish), so it is 100% profit.

The best money making is marketing (buy low, sell high), but that isnt a skill bluetongue.gif

You can easily triple your gp in a day.

Fishining all the way...it's such an easy thing to level up, plus with sword fish certs you can make almost 2k per cert! When I first starting fishing, it only took me like 2 days of off and on fishing to be able to get lobbys

*cough* Mine silver *cough*

You can get as much as 2.5-3k per cert on scapeboard, if you have enough of them.

I make my money using mixed ways. I basically craft gold amulets, or saphire and emerald amulets, then bank them. I then go mining, smith some harder steel items, basic mithril items, then bank Whatever_anim.gif . Then I go training in the ice cavernm and come back with decent monster drops. But the crucial part of my money making process is that use the nature runes i bring back and just high level alchemy everything biglaugh.gif

I usually make 50k from this process no problem thumb.gif Might not be the best way, but its one of the better ways in my opinion if your a f2p player grnwink.gif

Mixing ways can occasionally turn out well, but more often than not you waste too much time switching between tasks. I prefer just focusing on something for a while. Recently i've been training combat, and using the nature runes I gain through that to high alch iron plates. I had about 350 iron plates to start with, i'm down to 100 by now biglaugh.gif. Lets just say they weren't made this year...

thats exactly right. just buy coal certs for 500gp and sell for 1k. but you'll need lots of coal certs, like 100 to sell for 1k each. just wait for a person to buy for 1k each(which is rare). or post on rsc or whatever place. got me up to 500k TheSmile.gif
