We're compiling words of the Elven language from many sites for use on CurvedSpace (probably in an upcoming "Guild Strategy" section). I was just wondering if everyone would like it to become SeeD's code language. It's not extremely secret, though specific words could be used to identify SeeDs and confuse others on Runescape.

Feel free to post feedback for this idea as well. grnwink.gif

Might as well, could be a bit of fun. I doubt it would be used constantly, but if we ever did go to war... Plus several of the more insane individuals of the clan could use it in their everyday posts.

Cspace, I think that this is a GREAT idea. I love language...Infact, I am part of the JRC (junior classical league) in school which is a nation wide linguists society (okay, I know that is very dorky, but hey....). I can speak latin, plus decline many latin roots/greek roots, so, if you ever need some help linguistically coming up with words, or need the root of something based on its word etymology/morphology, I can help yah out! grnwink.gif

w00t! I've wanted to learn Elvish (Quenya, I think?) but didn't want to take the time. Now I will have an excuse. Thank you.

Hehe, there are so many dialects that listing words from various sites added up to a huge and confusing list of words... It may be at least a few days before some order is made of the dictionary thing I'm working on. bluetongue.gif

Heh, if all else fails we can use gnomish. Very quick to learn.. the alphabet of spoken gnomish here:
A: iv
B: xi
C: za
D: qe
E: iii
F: hb
G: qa
H: x
I: xa
J: ve
K: vo
L: va
M: ql
N: ha
O: ho
P: ni
Q: na
R: qi
S: sol
T: lat
U: z
V: ide
W: hi
X: ixi
Y: im
Z: dim

so like, SOL/iii/iii/QE is SeeD.

Well, since everyone seems to be somewhat interested, this is what we have at the moment.

It's a bit long and random (words of different dialects may even be combined in our list), and I will most likely organize it a bit. There is no way that anyone will memorize it, but it could be a reference for anyone interested in using it.

Note: The list will actually be on CurvedSpace (linked) with the next update.

Actually I think X Z is on to something. Gnomish would be ALOT more simple. Instead of having to learn all the Elvish (not that I mind, it's fun, but hard), we could simply use the RuneScape Gnomish. It would just be easier for those who don't have as much time on their hands. Also, for all the work Tolkien did, it's still very incomplete in terms of translations.

Good point Grim, but Elvish is more... traditional bluetongue.gif Anyways, I've got an Elvish Dictionary TheSmile.gif Only thing is, how would we use it? Secret meetings?

P.S. How did you figure out your Elvish name?

This idea I like, The Elven language is going to be hard to learn, but it fits RS so well, Doulgen'ra E Ashtae Asgarnia just sounds right. (thats somthing along the lines of "going to explore the area around Asgarnia") I think it's worth the efort to learn. thumb.gif

This is great! I would enjoy learning another language, even if it isn't exactly used in the "Real" World.
