Neither. I actually intensely dislike Metallica for their boring, bland, run-of-the-mill crappy metal. I listened to Master of Puppets after being told (countless times) that it's the best metal album ever. I didn't like it, so I listened to their other albums. They're an awful band.

Good adjectives. I feel sorry for their failed attempts at creativity. James Hetfield's voice reminds me of someone vomiting.

Dream Theater are a talented group of musicians. Unfortunately, they should rename the band Petrucci and Portnoy, since you cannot hear John Myung or Jordan Rudess live or in the studio.

Cliff Burton was a very skilled bassist. He was certainly technically proficient, but there was dearth of talent in most of his work with Metallica.

I think that really depends on the album. I agree that the keyboards are almost always low in the mix, except for the solos, but for the bass, it varies a lot. You can easily hear Myung on When Dream and Day Unite, Images and Words, Falling Into Infinity and Train of Thought, whereas on other releases he's often a bit inaudible.
