A properly balanced mix is the most crucial part of the band other than the instruments themselves. Unfortunately, in my experience, a good sound man is hard to come by _sure.gif .

Well they're all extremely different.. The first one, Bergtatt, has black metal-type music, but the vocals are these ethereal chanted things.. It's really a great album. The second, Nattens Madrigal, (the one I posted up there) is the epitome of raw black metal. The record company gave them several thousand dollars to record their second album, and it sounds like they spent about $100 on recording the album. The third, Kveldssanger, abandons metal completely and is a beautiful folk album. And now, 10+ years on, Ulver play avant-garde electronica.. go figure.
