The halo3 lie? Is this just a rumor?

I heard that all this going on about Halo3 getting hundreds of millions of dollars already was just a lie to increase marketing hype. Can anybody confirm this?

I heard the real figures are about 1/3 of what they are reporting.

Dunno, considering how Bungie managed to buy themselves back from Microsoft. I can just imagine that alone would take a considerable amount of cash, which was more than likely generated by Halo 3.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.
