How many types of orbitals would you find in a d block element?

D orbitals hold 10 electrons, unless my memory fails me. S has two, p has 6, d has 10 and f has...I can't remember, but possibly 16.

still wrong im asking for orbitals not electrons bluetongue.gif and f has 14 electrons

Orbitals are just pairs of electrons anyway, so change 10 to 5. And if that ain't right you're gonna have to clarify the question, cos I have no idea what else you could possibly be asking.

:withskenasis: As I read the question, there would be multiple answers, as it would be different for the different groups in the "d block".

I know some atomic theory, but from a physics point of view. So your chem stuff is just weird and I have no idea. bluetongue.gif

Its 5 as you said skenasis and zoo now i read it through again I can see what you mean i should of said something like... how many types of d orbitals are there?
anyway skenasis your question

Whoo, me again. I'm seeing a back-and-forth pattern here bluetongue.gif

And 'types' of d orbitals wouldn't really work either, I would think. I would interpret 'types' to mean 'different energy levels', in which case the answer would have been 7.

What is the rarest blood type in the world? This is in terms of phenotypes, not necessarily genetics. And that in itself is a big hint grnwink.gif

AB rhecus negative?
I cant spell and I think its wrong bluetongue.gif
types of d orbitals there are 5 with all the different xyz coordinates defining them. Strange thing about d orbitals is that there is actually 6 different possibilties but one is invalid.

"How many orbitals are in a d subshell?" would have worked.

You're right in that it's incorrect. And you can spell...just not the way the words are spelt in English. Often it's grammar that people get wrong more than spelling.

As I said, your genetic blood group doesn't necessarily apply here. I'm looking for the phenotypically rarest blood group.
