(Not to take the spotlight off Yoda day... bluetongue.gif)

We're trying to push our community and guild back toward being active. Seriously, I mean it this time. bluetongue.gif This is the time, and some of us have taken the first steps already with trying to bring together our old clan. We're not finished with this yet, and we'd still greatly appreciate any help in this area.

*************************************

... But the big impact will be made by open recruiting in our factions (except in Guild Wars where there's a member limit). This can be done in Runescape, EverQuest II, XBox Live, WoW, and really in anything else that's online. If you'd like to start a faction, just PM me, I may make exceptions to the five-member-requirement for now as long as the game has guild support.

But why open recruiting? Isn't that evil? bluetongue.gif

No, it's really not... It all depends on how you do it. Walking around shouting "Want to join a guild? PST" won't really be ideal. Something like "The guild [...] is recruiting... We're a casual, friendly, and mature guild that [...]" works better. Tells, whispers, private messages, or whatever other form of private messaging can also be effective if one's careful. Stay away from spamming mail in games that support it. Also, anyone who's seeking a guild should be contacted unless something doesn't seem right. Lastly, there's nothing wrong with inviting new players... They'll get stronger eventually if they keep playing. thumb.gif

After all, if the description is good, how is "open recruiting" any different than posting guild advertisements on public forums? There's no difference... Both will reach random players. The description is everything: It could appeal to those we would seek, and would not appeal to those who would give us a hard time. You don't want to appeal to everybody, but a guild should want to be heard.

No, it's not without potential issues. Any problems caused by open recruiting can be short-term, and are often minor. Compared to the vastly greater benefit of recruiting for activity, we shouldn't even worry about it. We didn't even give it a second thought before 2003... The only reason we slowed down with the open recruiting in 2003 and 2004 was because we were large enough to support ourselves with more selective means. Something had to be done to actually get to that point, and we can do it again today. yes.gif

*************************************

So let's take this a step at a time. Right now we're focusing on bringing back as many of our old members as possible, because most would probably like having our guild together again. Then we should think about recruiting our friends, even if only for CurvedSpace and not a faction. Hey, if you do, you'll have more friends here. bluetongue.gif After that we will be ready to take on the challenge of open recruiting once again.

So if you'd like to help your guild and community, this is your calling right now. thumb.gif

I truly hope you answer...

I have added information about cspacezone.com on my profiles on three different worlds of a web game I play (Tribal Wars):

World One.

World Two.

World Five.

I also realize you called for open recruiting in games we have factions, but I figure this will help as well, and I will be placing a link on my Myspace page and my wordpress blog. TheSmile.gif

I'd just like to point out that by no means are we discouraging you from recruiting on GW. We could really use more members on there, so if you want to advertize the guild or you meet people who might be interested, by all means go for it. Any of the officers should be happy to send invites out if they're online, otherwise you could always post on the DoA board to get someone to. If necessary we can prune the members list to make room for some people, but currently we could really use the activity. bluetongue.gif

Would it be possible to have recruits sign up on Neverwinter Nights? I'm getting ready to set it back up on my machine, and I don't really know if it's possible to do it there. (Recruiting Peopl to guilds anyway. I forgot If you could. >.<)

Don't believe it has a guild system built into it, but you might be able to set something up on some individual server or another.

I'm not sure though, I never really played online, hehe bluetongue.gif
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

NWN one or two? I may be interested.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Zolon reporting back in. I'm a WoWhead, on an RPPvP server, two accounts.

I'd be interested in starting my own Ally guild if anyone wants to do so, I'm getting tired of the trials and tribulations in the Midnight Reveries. We'll see.

HordeSide, I have my own guild, known as the <Wraiths of Dawn> people can ammass to. I play both regularily. Zolon is ally, L70 Mage, and Zarath is Horde, L42 Rogue.

Both characters are on The Venture Co RPPvP server. I'm game if you are. Send me an in-game mail if you want me. I'll do my best to float around these forums.

I do and I don't. My network is a friggin' mess and My family doesn't appreciate 30ft of ethernet cable strung accross the house so I can play H3 Live. When it's hooked up in my room, sometimes I do hook it up, though.

Mostly just to download songs for Guitar Hero.
