What seems to always be true in the RPGs you play? bluetongue.gif

***************************

Here are some of mine...

- The starting region is almost always a grassland of some sort.

- There are always forests, deserts, and snowy regions. There's usually something mysterious about at least one forest, you usually almost die crossing one particular desert, and the plot usually rushes you through a snowy region.

- The main character is often misunderstood in one way or another.

- You save the starting town from destruction sometime in the story. It's not usually during the final battle.

- There's usually a group of people isolated in a remote corner of the world. They speak perfect English, but have a unique word for "outsider".

- The final battle is often divided into three parts. In the first, you beat the bad guy up. In the second you almost fail. In the third you barely win, usually saving the world with only seconds to spare.

- Frequently, the evil you fight in the beginning of the game is somehow destroyed by an even worse enemy. The second half of the game then revolves around a struggle against the new foe.

- There's usually a sword in the game that is weak initially, but can be charged somehow to become uber powerful.

- The main character's closest friend often has a secret of some sort.

- Often, when a greater evil arises, you must team up with former foes and band together to defeat the ultimate enemies.

When you team up with your old foes, their HP decreases dramatically, as does their overall combat effectiveness.

- Your characters undergo many learning experiences during the phase of the game, enabling them to use magic, combine powers, etc. etc.

I HATE that rule.

Everything always happens to YOUR team, YOUR party, or some horrible catastrophe always takes place in whatever town YOU'RE staying in. It can never happen to anyone else.

Any little pissant shop in the middle of a poverty stricken and desolate wasteland always has a shop that can pay you endless amounts of Gil/P/Z/coins. If you can sell everything to them, and them pay you tens of thousands of Gil/P/Z/coins for all the stuff you managed to pick up, why can't they spend Gil/P/Z/coins to rebuild their town?

Any little pissant, poverty stricken and desolate wasteland always holds SOME form of hidden treasure.

Save often.

Phoenix Downs or Revives will save your life.

You can buy (Generally) 99 of everything, but your character never shows any enlarged fanny pack, backpack, or other carrying case. They are not Merlin.

Someone in your team/party WILL eventually turn on you. Just wait.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Someone, usually a friend or ally, has their village and family destroyed and now needs your help reuniting with their last living relative/friend in nearby village/ long-lost father.

Tattoos/ Skimpy Clothing provide just as much protection as a full-body metal suit. eek13.gif

You can run on nothing for days.

- Restrooms are nonexistant.

- When you finally -do- see an outhouse, you can't use it.

- In any RPG society, it is socially acceptable to barge into any house and do whatever you wish to do there.
- Critters, animals and fantasy creatures always carry items and objects that they have no use for and/or are unable to actually carry.

-The main character's family is almost always either non existent or slain in the beginning.
-If there is a princess, the main character will fall in love with her.
-If there is a princess, the main evil character will covet her.
-All of the swords look like carbon copies of short swords or {expletive run over by Cspace} swords.
-The righteous become too righteous and seek to "purify" the entire world in holy flame.

It's totally safe to follow that stranger you just met into the dark, dank cave. Well he said he was safe, didn't he?

Soldiers who have been training their entire lives are defeated with ease when up against the enemy, but don't worry, your untrained level 5 {expletive antidisestablishmentarianized by Cspace} can single-handedly take them down!
