Mithril is real armor used in cave man times, it looks like pure diamonds and silver. You can figure this out in Lord of the Rings, not sure which movie though...

*Cowers*

Hold on guys! Mithril is NOT a real metal. Neither is runeite or adamantite, for that matter.

The word "mithril" was coined by J.R.R. Tolkien for use in his Middle Earth saga. The word is a combination of two Quenya (Elvish) roots, mith, meaning 'mist', ril, 'glitter'.

Here is a brief description of the word and its context in LOTR:

QUOTE
The name MIThril comes from the imaginative fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien. It was coined in the book, The Hobbit, which was first published in 1937, and later used in his Lord of the Rings trilogy. In these stories, mithril is the Elvish name of a metal (also called "silver steel" or "true silver") with near-magical properties of strength, beauty, and lightness. This metal was worked by the Dwarves into intricate ring-mail armor tunics, light in weight and comfortable enough to be worn constantly, yet unobtrusive and nearly indestructible. Frodo, the protagonist and hero of the Lord of the Rings, wears a mithril tunic under his traveling clothes; not even his companions know of its existance until at a critical moment in the story it stops an Orc spear, saving his life.

As for adamantite:

QUOTE (Webster's 1913 Dictionary)
\Ad"a*mant\ ([a^]d"[.a]*m[a^]nt), n. [OE. adamaunt,
adamant, diamond, magnet, OF. adamant, L. adamas, adamantis,
the hardest metal, fr. Gr. 'ada`mas, -antos; 'a priv. +
dama^,n to tame, subdue. In OE., from confusion with L.
adamare to love, be attached to, the word meant also magnet,
as in OF. and LL. See {Diamond}, {Tame}.]

1. A stone imagined by some to be of impenetrable hardness; a
name given to the diamond and other substances of extreme
hardness; but in modern mineralogy it has no technical
  signification
. It is now a rhetorical or poetical name for
  the embodiment of impenetrable hardness.

"Adamantite" is a ferrous metal manufactured by the Drow in the Forgotten Realms series, and is also supposed to be refined Truestone in the RP world of Glorantha first created by Greg Stafford in the early 1960's. "Adamantium" is an alloy created by Stan Lee for the Marvel Universe. It is the material that Wolverine's claws and skeletal augmentations are made of, among other things.

"Runite", to the best of my knowledge, was invented by the Gowers exclusively for this game.

Exactly. However, the "mix iron and silver" thing together is true. Doing that will make an alloy known as mithril, but it is not the magical stuff of fantasy. It's just... well, iron and silver.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

1: Its Mithril. Not Mythriyl, or anything else. Mithril.

2: That iron and silver thing is a bunch of hooey. Whoever discovered that you could do that was really lazy, and decided to steal a made-up word from Tolkien.

3: Adamanite. As Rabk said,
QUOTE
Ad"a*mant\ ([a^]d"[.a]*m[a^]nt), n. [OE. adamaunt,
adamant, diamond, magnet, OF. adamant, L. adamas, adamantis,
the hardest metal, fr. Gr. 'ada`mas, -antos; 'a priv. +
dama^,n to tame, subdue. In OE., from confusion with L.
adamare to love, be attached to, the word meant also magnet,
as in OF. and LL. See {Diamond}, {Tame}.]

1. A stone imagined by some to be of impenetrable hardness; a
name given to the diamond and other substances of extreme
hardness; but in modern mineralogy it has no technical
signification. It is now a rhetorical or poetical name for
  the embodiment of impenetrable hardness.

IT DOES NOT EXIST. PERIOD.

Hope I've cleared that up, though I didn't think I'd have to, seeing as Rabk did a wonderful job.
