My brother and I had a massive (Well, not massive) discussion about this.
Parts of me thought it to be BS. Especially the part about 'Using the energy equivalent of the entire North American grid concentrated to a needlepoint." That in itself just seems... out there. Plus, the 'femtosecond'.
I just can't imagine a time frame that small that would hold any significance in the real world. Though I suppose if going at such unbelievable odds of energy AND time, it must work.
Interesting find.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Yeah, that tickled my BS detector a bit, too, especially when it said later that it can run from a standard wall outlet. I'd like to point out that if you did this to any metal, the increased surface area would cause the corrosion rate to multiply exponentially. This is very bad in most cases, but beneficial in other, esoteric uses.
