Defender of Aderons's Store

  • So, What exactly is a Store?

This is the place where we will arrange and display for certain items to appear in the Defender of Aderon Guildwars Guru Auction Page. The items will be placed on our site, and the officers can update the auction site to display the item, and then you will get the gold for the item if someone wants to buy it. A shop will not only save you from a listing fee by posting it on their site directly, but bring our Guild some noteriety, especially if we have more items in it.

  • Sounds Great! How does it work?

There are two ways this system can be done. One, if the other Officers are online and willing, we may have them place the item in a guild storage account, so whenever the auction is over, we can access it and give it to the person who purchased it at the most convenient time for them. You can then pick up the gold for it from us next time it is on. We will not post the item on the auction site until we receive the item from you.

The Second possibility is you hold on to the item and trade it yourself to the person and get the gold directly. Your information will also be placed on the auction website for the item, so your screen name will be made public.

The reason we don't go simple with the second option is our guild store will receive a rating on our service. And since we are not always online, we could have a lower rating due to impatient people. We can remedy this by arranging to have you on at a certain time sometime after the auction to give them the item.

For now, it is fine to post in this thread about your opinion until we figure out a good manner in which to handle this problem.

  • What we need from you...other than your items. bluetongue.gif

In order to post items on the auction site, we will need you to post a few things. This is where this thread comes in. Please post a picture of the stats (what comes up when you mouse over it) if it is an equippable item. If it is a rare skin or something equivalently special, then please post a picture of it.

Then comes the bidding. We will need to find out the minimum bid amount you want the item to go for. Then comes the buy out option. If you don't want this option, let us know, but if you do, post a buy out amount. There is also another option, called a reserve amount. This amount is the minimum amount of gold you want it to go for. This value is hidden from bidders, and if it is not met, the item will not be sold. (At least, that is what the website says. We will update this as we find out if there are any hidden strings attached). Mind you, you are posting it here, so people may see it if they do some research. If you really want it to remain secret, just say you want it to stay secret, and the officer updating the auction site can Message you to find out the amount. Finally we can arrange when the bidding ends. It can last as long as a week. So keep that in mind.

We will be updating the auction site soon. There may be changes to the way we will run this auction in the next few weeks as we pan the details out. For now, please post any ideas you may have to help the process, and if you have some items to sell, we can start with that as well.

My first suggestion, is we keep a part of the first post devoted to a list showing who is selling what and for how much as well. Though it can be found on the auction site, it is a good record for us.

Yeah, there will need to be a way to have a record of what's listed by who. A simple list will probably work fine... it should probably be sorted by the owner's name. Maybe have each person make and maintain their own list, then someone just has to copy it from a post into the full list, then delete the post to keep the thread tidy. People can post again if their list changes.

Possible Format, where prices are optional as per the description given in the first post, and sold for price is added when an item is sold. Strike out a line when the item is delivered, and delete when the gold is delivered to the seller.

Forum Name (preferred IGN)
Full Item Name -- Starting Bid (e.g. SB: Xgold) -- Reserve (R: Xgold) -- Buy Out (BO: Xgold) -- Sold: Xgold

In the post requesting a listing, the URLs for any pictures should be listed with the details of each item.

-----

For item delivery I personally prefer arranging a meeting time with the buyer and doing things directly. 'Course, I'm also pretty flexible in my schedule, so it would be fairly easy for me. Cutting out intermediate steps is a good thing in my opinion. (I also hate to ask people to drop everything to do something like that, and I hate reminding people later if they're busy at the moment, so maybe that's just me bluetongue.gif.) With good records though, both ways will work.

-----

I do have a problem with the pricing though bluetongue.gif. This is why I haven't tried to sell anything on a forum somewhere (different reason than why I won't sell in-game), because I don't have a clue about pricing. I read a couple guides and am worse off than I was to begin with bluetongue.gif. I just haven't a clue what's reasonable for a given item. So for those of us with this problem, any suggestions?

I have the same problem with remembering item prices. But I find checking the auction site we're listed on for items with similar qualities gives me a good idea of what is valuable or not. Gives a good rough estimate. It's pretty simple too with their side bar, can navigate to a similar item pretty easily.

As for cutting out the middle man, I agree. I don't like the idea of going through people, I'm just a bit worried about bad ratings if it doesn't get to someone as quickly as they want. Not that I don't trust anyone here, but I can easily imagine some pretty petty people, and since this is in order to help our reputation, I worry.

My problem is more finding them to begin with bluetongue.gif, but that is a good idea either way.

Indeed. It only takes one immature idiot to ruin things. We'll probably figure out how to best work this part of the deal with some actual experience.

I guess I'll (second) start things off with these. If anyone has any better price suggestions (mainly if these're too high) please say so. Also, I have no idea at all on a price for a Destructive Blade.

This is a really great idea, a couple of times I've wanted to sell things on auction sites but never got around to the effort involved in starting that up. A guild-based one takes out a lot of those administrative details, or at least lessens them.

I'm pretty much liking the style of format Zoo suggests. My only concern is that you wouldn't necessarily want all details about the item listed on one line, for things like golds which have more to write about them. By the time you list the skin, the mods (and whether they're max), the req and linked attribute, etc. then it could end up looking a bit untidy. Maybe some sort of 'description' line in the format for circumstances such as that, that would seem to mesh with pasting the details into guru auctions without too much difficulty.

Oh, and I'm not sure if it's too pedantic or not, but we're not actually part of SeeD anymore. SeeD is used just for the RS faction, so we might want to get a new image to show for the store and change the text to the Arbiters' Order.

Yeah, but it was, for some reason, one of the few images that I could link onto the site. I already brought it up with Cspace that he can change whatever he wants to make it appropriate, such as the image, and then the text can be made to match it.

Good point. I didn't think too hard about that because all the things I have right now, if people are looking for them specifically they will know the details already >_<.

So something more on the order of:
QUOTE
Forum Name (Preferred IGN, if applicable)
Full Item Name -- SB: -- R: -- BO: -- sold:
Full Description (use more than one line for clarity)
URL(s) for pics

And I'll add just a bit, what each item is should be clear for noobs like me browsing through the listings bluetongue.gif. Looking through the bow strings last night I saw what I knew was a sundering string only because I was in the string section, and even then I wasn't completely sure at first, 'cause all the title said was something about 20/20.

If you all want, someone can make us a banner. I can do it, but best if we get a bunch of people willing to do it, so we can choose. And I know I tend to have pretty hefty time constraints, so I dont always get time to do these kind of projects. cry.gif

I'll try and come up with something for our banner.

I've added a few of your items, Zoo TheSmile.gif I noticed that you can't have apostrophes in the title of the items or it goes all weiiiird. Oh, and if you have more than one, choose the 'dutch auction' in the top drop-down menu. =D
