Before you do that, please inform me if there's a way to hook the XBL mic up to the instruments. I rtfm, but found nothing.

I figured it out. Buddy of mine told me you have to jam the adapter into the XBL headset thing extremely hard or it won't work. I just didn't jam hard enough.
And vocalists use the right and left bumper to talk. Instrumentalists have speak-to-chat activated.
