This is... interesting.

Supposedly video games and TV (which has been around how long?) are responsible for keeping young men from "life's major milestones". Huh? I thought men had a choice in what "milestones" they reach. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a rational adult.

She's interestingly silent on women. Because I'm a girl it's ok if I'm not married and don't want kids, and it's ok that I play video games even though I'm 25? *smells a double standard nearby* Maybe women don't play video games. That must be it.

Yup, that's exactly it. bluetongue.gif

If someone is in that situation(no job, not married, etc) then I think the problem lies somewhere other than tv or games. Maybe the provider of tv and games? conf.gif

Eh there's always been the view that women don't play video games, and I think this will never change either bluetongue.gif

And in some cases girls are better then boys on video games too ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

It says the average marrying age for women is 26..and men 27. That is considerably higher than it used to be, but I don't find it bad bluetongue.gif

Neither do I. I could care less about "serious" relationships at age 18. My first priority is to get the education I want, achieve a great deal of life goals, and then worry about some wifey thing.

So... a man's success is based on how soon he get married and has kids.
I guess I better start impregnating before I risk hitting this stage in three years.

Well, your success should be what makes you happy.. I think the article discusses what society thinks success is, so icon_sweatdrop.gif

Likewise. Since individuals can take care of themselves, either men or women, marriage is more optional now, so why feel rushed? Although I disagree with (much) older people having kids. If you're likely to die before they're grown, it's rather unfair to them (fortunately this is an uncommon situation, for now).

I think the definition of adult they're implying in the second part is a little unfair. If you have adult responsibilities, but career-type work is replaced by college (which is a different sort of work, and with additional responsibilities), so you don't earn your own money, I don't see why that makes a person a child. And being in grad school certainly isn't a thing for a child >_<.

Heheh... I suppose it's phrased that way because the "adults" in that picture still have the old idea of what an adult is and isn't, and the "children" feel they don't have to be defined by that idea when the reasons for it are dated.

I didn't bother reading the link you posted, because from what I have seen posted here I have no desire to. ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

Nah, when he's ready for "some wifey thing" he'll have a much sweeter way of saying it, else she'll take care of it bluetongue.gif

So, remind me why I want kids again? Maybe it's because I'm 17 and not, say, 27 that I don't see the point, but what is the point?

Marriage is understandable, but why have kids? Especially in your early 20's when you're still probably paying off college debts? Why is waiting until having kids WON'T put you up to eyeballs in debt so unheard of?
