The Knights of Aderon and the Forlonian Cavalry finally meet in the southern desert, near the Zolan Range. Both sides are prepared for this battle which is now unfolding. All around, one can hear the sounds of remorseless steel among the cries of battle and the whistling of arrows. A reflection of chaos itself, the brave knights and cavaliers show no sign of stopping before the surrounding desert is stained red.

The ground suddenly shifts by a short distance as the strongest tremor, so far, is felt throughout the desert. The sky darkens as thick clouds roll over the horizon.

Something does not seem right about this. If you felt the need to be in this battle, chances are that you're now reconsidering it. Something far worse seems to be coming...

OOC: Uhh... well... I'm -pretty- sure that my last post regarding the Forsaken Desert situation with Oric was with the Aderonian knights... And you know what? Those posts in Alpha's quest don't count. In Oric's timeline, let's just say they happened before the whole Ethan/Gero/shinystone(reallyaneutroniumbomb) thing. So Oric is here!

"... and this day, we will prevail!" Oric finished. He rode his horse into the to a position in the center and in front of the foremost line of mounted knights, having finished his words to the Aderonians in an effort to prepare them for the coming battle. He drew his sword and raised it above his head.

"Charge!" he yelled, and a chorus of yells rose up from behind him as hundreds of battle-hardened warriors drew their weapons and spurred their mounts forward. Oric led them, his crown twinkling upon his head, into the midst of the host of Forlonians. His weapon slashed and stabbed at the enemy, and they did the same to him. Several times, only a quick turn of his blade saved him from being killed in a hundred different ways. But though no major wounds were done to him, it did not take long before various smaller wounds were apparent across his body. As the battle progressed, men who were not mounted began to fight across the field on both sides, perhaps because their mount had been killed and they not.

A tremor shook the ground. Screams and horses' whinnies filled the air, and though the same had been heard before, for a moment the sound of clashing weapons did not accompany it. Many of those still mounted upon steeds fell as horses lost their footing and tumbled over. Oric's own mount barely remained upright, and the way the horse shook about anyway nearly made him tumble off on his own. His eyes seemed drawn to the horizon, where dark clouds seemed to have become brewing from nothing. An ominous feeling settled over the battle, and for several moments no one fought as everyone felt the same sense of foreboding... But after a few moments the sounds of fighting began once more, though it could almost be said that they continued with less intensity.

Was he wrong to have brought his men here? It had seemed so right at the time. But now he was reconsidering his decision. Something very bad was about to happen, something evil was brewing on the horizon, and it was not only a few dark clouds. As a Forlonian lunged at him, Oric tried to forget the feeling as he sliced his blade across the man's neck. Yet the thought remained. He felt as if he had pulled his men into a nightmare.
