We played with the idea off and on, but since we are no longer considering ourselves a guild, for the first time we can actually do it.
Some may see this as a dark area to get into, but remember that we're dealing with games. As long as we don't get involved in guild battles where there are rankings, there shouldn't be a problem. This can actually be a fun way to get into guild battles (PvP and PvE) without pressure, and without having to deal with the clan politics that tends to lead to them. If guilds recognize us as mercenaries, it could also provide a wide variety of in-game challenges for our members that a normal guild simply won't provide on its own.
You may be fighting for the weaker guilds, but that can be fun in its own way as a challenge for a player.
In context, SeeD is Garden's elite mercenary force. While we don't need to fit that image, we can if we want to. Our "clients" would probably have members that know Final Fantasy VIII, so they would understand the kind of thing we're doing.

I think it would be relatively harmless as long as we stay out of the wrong stuff. What would you think about this?
If you view it favorably, would you volunteer as a mercenary?

I have no problem if others would like to do it, but I would rather not do it myself. I am starting to get back into PvP, but can't picture myself being a full-time (or even part-time) mercenary right now. The idea sounds good though.

Lets lock and load.
We should make our own merc division within Curvedspace, and if become really good maybe we could charge small fees for our services. With the small fees we could slowly supply our group with matching armor and weps.
