The reknosks, however, are a different matter. The first to enter the town continues to tear through buildings, making its way toward the center of Maldenar. Another enters behind it and smashes a building where many of the knights with bows were taking cover. They draw their main weapons and try to provide resistance against this fiend, but it does no good. They are quickly overwhelmed, and those who survive scatter into town in search of other fortifications.
The four reknosks to the south of Maldenar draw closer, ignoring the rain of arrows that are sent their way. These would be an immediate threat for the adventurers in their path.
(In other words, the players' characters who are fighting wights right now.

For the first time in a while, another tremor can be felt. It is nothing greater than what was felt through the desert earlier.

He looks back toward Aether. "If this gets too bad, I'll give you a lift if you need it," he calls out to him.
Ziggy then goes back to firing and looking for any areas with less resistance farther from the town.

Neraphym catches a glance of a startlingly beautiful grove elf fighting with what appears to be 8 or 9 blades around her. Her movements are swift and fluid, and she strikes down many wights with ease. A Reknosk is approaching her position, and Neraphym watches anxiously to see how she does against such a powerful opponent.
In the distance, Neraphym can make out a small creature which appears to be neither wight nor Reknosk, and is being escorted by a pair of those great demons. He suspects this is the enemy leader, and sends a comet in that direction.
Lohengrin approaches from a distance...

"Hey!" some knights call from what used to be the market, "Come over here! We may have a chance if we're not all scattered around Maldenar!"
It appears that the knights have fortified the market. There is little hope, but this is probably the best place remaining to defend the town. No... This is probably the best place remaining to survive. That's all the knights are fighting for now.

Neraphym creates a modulation in the storm, and focuses all the latent arcana in the vicinity. He is encircled by a powerful purple aura which grows brighter and brighter. An explosion of light blasts the aura away and leaves Neraphym's eyes glowing with energy. He is once again at full strength. Neraphym trains his eyes on a Reknosk. Slaying wights is a simple task, but these Reknosks are giving the locals much difficulty. Neraphym selects one and glides towards it at considerable speed.
Neraphym: "Die!"
Neraphym boosts himself up to the beast's head and slaps it with his sword. A small gash forms in the blade's wake, but the attack did not seem to phase the demon. Dissatisfied with the lack of damage he did with that attack, Neraphym projects a Gamma Ray Burst into the past. Back in the past, a small, yet powerful explosion rips through the Reknosk's face after Neraphym strikes it in the head. The explosion leaves the beast greatly disfigured and knocks the Reknosk off its balance. It staggers into a nearby building and collapses into the rubble. It is not getting up right away...
Neraphym: "That should do it."
----------------------------
Riach slays the last of the wights nearby, only to find herself staring into the embodiment of fear itself. Her orbital blades return to her and swirl around her body. She senses great power in this monster, and does not feel confident in her ability to take it down. She uses her telepathy to pick up a spear from the corpse of a dead knight. She sends the spear flying into the Reknosk's chest, but it just bounces off.
Riach: "What is this monster? No steel can pierce its skin. I must flee."
She runs towards the market to regroup with everyone else.
----------------------------
One of the Reknosks escorting Van pushes him out of the way just before a comet strikes. The Reknosk's arm is blown off completely, and it howls in pain. Van is alright.
Van: "Foolish mortals. You will pay for that! In the name of the Fallen, I call forth the Fel Spider!"
In the market, a giant spider digs its way to the surface. The spider finds itself surrounded by knights, and she is quite hungry. She leaps onto the nearest knight and bites into his thin armor. Delicious! She turns around to find other warriors slashing at her legs with steel. She is uncut, but spins around and slays another soldier, too. There is so much blood to drink here!

Ziggy was reluctant to go to the marketplace. He has no interest in a "last stand" to help a foreign army keep an abandoned town. From the sounds coming from the market, he suspects it is good that he didn't rush over there. The reknosk still approaches, even as he fires directly into its head. "Maybe I should try something else," he mutters. He opens a small hatch in his mount and pulls out a small ball with a ring in it. Quickly pulling the ring, he throws the ball at the reknosk. It strikes the reknosk's chest and explodes on impact. Ziggy begins to move to the right.

OOC: I wanted to guarantee that my attack did something, but it obviously did not necessarily kill the Reknosk. If Cspace has plans for that Reknosk, he simply needs to get it to stand up. Obviously I wouldn't do the same thing to another player. Also, I did what you suggested in an earlier post, and that has gone without a response. It's very difficult to progress my character through this event without responses, and Cspace hardly has time to address everyone's individual posts.

"Just in time. Naturally. Hope I don't miss the party."
The imposing canine draws one of his large swords and hefts it over his shoulder; the double-edged blade laying flat on top of one of his pauldrons. He began a slow, walking decent to the battle. His view of the area would hopefully give him some tactical insight on the weak spots of the enemy's movement. He would glance around for an opening and take that. More than likely, it would be near the wreckage that the first demon made. Once he had located such an area, he would begin his walk towards that location.
He took his time, in no real hurry, and definitely not willing to spend any more energy than needed. During his movement, he disregarded all of the wights en-route. If they struck first, he would return steel and keep his momentum, but in no way was he interested in ending their lives.

Rahvus limped as far as he could, occasionally glancing behind him to see if he was being pursued. After several minutes, he gave in to the pain. He had not yet seen anyone behind him -- and therefore he determined that it would be safe to rest. He came to a stop, panting from the pain. Leaning against a wall, he slid to the ground. His hand went to the arrow in his shoulder. Gritting his teeth, he broke its shaft and pulled out both ends.
The arrow in his abdomen didn't seem too deep, though. He broke its shaft as well, and then pulled out one of his knives. Slowly, delicately, he cut around it until he could pull the bladed edge out. When it finally came free. He leaned his head back, groaning. One hand covered the wound, quickly becoming covered by blood. It didn't seem too serious, though. He should be able to continue in a few minutes... He just had to... rest for now...
