No, but they are getting more and more rare, and getting more and more in demand. Prices have started to level out, but people will pay high amounts for them, so they will always stay high bluetongue.gif

They're not worth it, definately not. They don't do anything; they just look cool (Which counts for something bluetongue.gif)

Still, the main reason is just because there wasn't much quantity, and it was from the earlier days of Runescape, when less people played. I can't say I exactly understand why even Santa Hats and Masks went up, other than the fact that they looked good, though bluetongue.gif

Like ryl said, they are getting more and more rare, and in demand. now, santa hats have gone from 200k, to 150k, and then back up to 200k. green masks could be purchased for 250k and red for 350k, if not 300k. now they have jumped up to 300k, and 400k. blue masks are still 500k bluetongue.gif i for one, am buying as many holiday items as possible. eventually they will cost a mil or so. but all in all, no they are not worth it. runescape intended it to be for fun, but people are evil so they bumped up the prices by a LOT!

It was worth it when I got my white hat. I bought it for 4.8 and sold it for 7 bluetongue.gif

If you buy and hold it for a long time, it is worth it. If you intend to sell it quickly, then don't buy it. Confusing? conf.gif

Rare and expensive items are GOOD for the economy. owever, they are totally not worth it. Only if I was swimming in gp would I buy a Mask, much less a Party Hat (picked up a Santa Hat on Christmas). JAGeX made a huge blunder with the non-tradeable bunny ears. By and large, the only people who wear bunny ears are relativly new players with no means to afford a holiday drop (there are a few exceptions).
QUOTE
Please remember - these are supposed to be just a bit of fun for Easter.
JAGeX said this upon the dropping off Bunny Ears. What they don't seem to understand is that holiday drops aren't fun. You can wear them, but you can't use them for anything. They look cool. That's all. Ok, Easter Eggs, Christmas Crackers, and Pumpkins were USEFUL. But they still wern't "fun". The only reason someone wears a Party Hat, Mask, or Santa Hat is because...
1: They look cool. Sort of. But not really.
2: IT'S A STATUS SYMBOL!!! Think about it for a second. Is there really any reason to have a Ferrari or a Porsche over a regular car? Not really. It looks cool, and it's a status symbol. People *supposedly* think better of you if you drive a "cool" car. It's the same thing in RuneScape. The Party Hat either says "I'm a player from way back." or "I've played a long time, made a bunch of money, and this is how I flaunt it." (ok, some people hack their Party Hats. but not many). No one wears Bunny Ears because they don't mean anything. All a set of Bunny Ears says is "I played on Easter and saw one of the hundreds of Bunny Ears lying around, so I picked one up". I saw literally hundreds of Bunny Ears go to waste on that day. Just disappeared from the face of the game, never to return.

Conclusion: Rare items are good, but they aren't worth it. Sure, you could buy a Party Hat and wait a few months and sell one, but what if the price doesn't go up? What if it goes down? Bunny Ears are lame. They don't mean a thing. All JAGeX did by making future holiday drops untradable was ensure that Party Hats, Masks, and Santa Hats will continue to rise in value, and that no one will ever care about their holidays drops again (for the most part).

Some people buy Rare items to get their confidence up. If they get a phat then they can work to get anything TheSmile.gif When I got my very first Rare item (Santa Hat) I loved it so much. It kept my confidence up, and the Santa Hat got me full rune. Not by selling. Anyways it's just junk stuff about my old RS days.

IMHO, holiday items are NOT worth the price. However, they remain the best way by far to make money in the game. By trading/merchanting masks, hats, pumpkins, etc., I have made over two million gp in a single day before. I could never achieve this with skills alone, even if I was lvl 99 smithing or thieving. I make an average profit of 3k for every diamond ammy i make and sell (and I can only sell about 20 of them in an hour at the most), while I can make 200k in minutes by buying and then reselling a red party hat. Prices will always go up, albeit slowly, because people quit or lose their items in some way. Yes, I think it takes away from the otherwise fair (i.e., skill-based) nature of the game, but it's a part of the game nonetheless. The way I see it, JaGEx has already said they would never take rare items out of the game, so we may as well just live with it.[/my two cents][/ramble]

it looks like they really are over priced and people know it but i guess it gives people something to aim for EG. if some has full rune and has got most quests done then insead of doing nothing they begin to save up there money so it's some thing more to get for some one who has every thing

I think future holiday drops should be tradable. JAGeX has made a big mistake saying that htey won't be tradable. I wouldn't want a pink phat if they were just worth nothing, because they should that you've either

1. Been playing for ages
or
2. Earnt enough money to buy one
or
3. Have a really nice friend.......... (grrrr...... wish I had one)
