think about this, If my strength is 54 and my mage is 54. My max hit with no weapon is about 7 to 8. But my mage doesnt hit close to that, it usually hits like 5 to 6. So mage is worse than strength. If u use a wepon u can hit 15s (with r2h) but still the same with mage. So what is the point of mage?? U tell me.

"holds iban staff"

Hits 25 with that weapon, hits 20 with iban blast.

Now you tell me why mage is bad.

Using mage you can hit with combat AND mage, and you can usually get 2 mage spells in a round, so thats a lot more damage.

While pking, someone can mage while someone else is buffing.

You can weaken peoples stats. Enfeeble does -10% str, that can lower your enemies max hit by 3.

LOL your mage is 54 and you only hit 5-6? What spell are you using? I'm only 36 and i hit 5's with Earth Bolt. You DO realize that its what spell your using that makes it stronger...

But ryl magic often misses or does low dmg on mith armor or above, plus runes cost a whole ton, and also mage is good because of high lvl alchemy(a good way to make money) and teleport, plus iban staff and battle staffs have very high weapon powers!

If you ask me, Magic is more effective than stregnth. In combat, you can weaken opponents, blast them every turn as well as hitting them, and even attract them or hit them from a location where they can't attack you.

It has a downside though: Strength usually hits higher. But then, there's Iban Blast...

There's a downfall to f2p magic sad.gif Oh well, I guess if you want better magic pay for it. Iban blast isn't the strongest anymore. The new magic spells are. I think they're Guthix's Claw Saradomin's something and Flames of Zamorack

But mage is much easier to train (although the rune prices *shudder*)

I'm only 44 mage, I got it for a quest, and it can stay like that for ages (until I start training combat on dark wizards again)

Technically thats true nat. However it doesn't exactly lower your hit, it puts up your combat level. While that does mean you can't hit as much for your level, thats only useful in the wilderness. The rest of the time, a higher combat helps to give you more respect and doesn't have any drawbacks. That, and you can stop monsters being aggressive if you put up your combat high enough.

Combat is good, combat with magic is better, combat with magic and prayer is unbeatable. Magic isn't meant to be a direct comparison with strength, unless you're able to transmute items into money or teleport around the world using only strength, in which case i salute you fugi as an incredibly creative player.

I can't wait to see what tricks Jagex have up their sleeve to help make impures more powerful.

The New spells bug was fixed, they only do 25 max. damage now, and are based on MAGIC and NOT RANGED as they used to be. The OLD max damage for the new spells was around 55.

As for magic and armour. High spells hit more often, and for more damage, thats all there is to it. A wave spell or higher will hardly ever miss. Armor and defense level does not affect how often a magic spell will hit, or how much damage it does. You can hit 1 defense - 0 armor, like hitting 99 defense - 236 armor.
