So awhile ago I mentioned a game called PMOG, the Passively Multiplayer Online Game. Premise was exactly what it sounded like: install a Firefox toolbar, and the Web becomes the world of the game. Earn points for travelling to new and uncharted websites. During your adventuring, loot crates left behind by other generous visitors... or trip mines left by the meaner ones. Follow portals to unknown territory, or take perhaps a safer, better-lit path. Earn badges for interacting directly or indirectly with your fellow players, or just for visiting the sites you always visit.

I liked it for the Victorian/steampunk atmosphere it brought to my browsing, as well as the your-computer-is-now-your-playground aspect that reminded me of my days spent in Inner Space many years ago.

Anyhoo, it's been growing over the past months, and for awhile had its rules change seemingly every day. Lately it's been much more stable though, despite still being in beta. It's managed to lose enough simplicity that it doesn't instantly become boring, but still remain simple enough that it can truly be played passively. It also has a new name: The Nethernet.

My role in the Nethernet is that of a Vigilante. We are those ironic fools who battle Chaos by being Chaotic ourselves. Why? Well, me, I find it rude when others lay mines and other traps on my favorite sites just to catch innocent travelers off-guard. So I fight back. I have no quarrel with members of the other Associations, but Destroyers just rub me the wrong way.

There's no formal guild system (yet?) but if any of you would like to become my Ally in Chaos, click below.

(Full disclosure: joining via this link gives me in-game benefits. If you already play or you'd prefer joining without the referral, the name's Phieta. Obviously.)

Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I clicked your link, not sure if it actually worked though. I block cookies unless giving the okay, so when I enabled them, I think it killed your referral. Not sure though.

Looks like an interesting game... See you on the nethernets. =P

EDIT: Aww, turns out it needs cookies enabled globally. Oh well *Turns them on*

So I figured when you guys join it'd automatically add us as contacts, but apparently it doesn't do that anymore. Ratty, what name did you join under? I can't seem to find you.

So I have 4,000 DP and 69 Pings, with 23 armor points.
Anyone else have scores to post?

Just saw that, and (for a moment) thought it was some weird late April Fools' thing because they chose to name their virtual currency "Bacon."

Haven't looked into the details yet.

Edit: So I have to either give you money or do some free-iPods-style offers to electrify my St. Nicks now? No thanks GameLayers. Tagged myself with "Anti-Bacon" and uninstalled the toolbar on my laptop. Still have it on my desktop so Allies, expect a few crates from me.

Edit 2: k, used 75ish crates giving away all my stuff. Impulsive? Probably. But hey, if I ever come back, it's not like it'd take forever to get a few tools again. Take care all.

So basically a bunch of people left in the Anti-Bacon movement, and those that stayed didn't buy any Bacon. And now the Nethernet is dead.
