Vampire Slayer

(PC - HL MOD)

Developer: VS Team (RouteTwo - Programmer / Katharii - modeller)
Genre: FPS

Gameplay: 10
Graphics: 6
Sound: 8
Originality: 7
Price: Free (88mb)
Quality: 8
Number of Players: 32 max
Overall: 9

So what is Vampire Slayer? Well it's a team death match variant which has two teams, the vampires and the slayers. On most of the maps the aim is to basically slaughter the opposition using your team's unique weapons....

Slayers
----------
Your job is to slay the evil vampires, to do this aim your gun at a vampire and, guess what, shoot! . When his health reaches 0 he drops to the floor quicker than you can say rawr!. Nows your chance to kill him, pull out your stake and give him a quick poke, be quick though or he'll resurrect and start chewing on your arm.

Weapons:

Father D - Stake (with prayer biglaugh.gif), Mossberg Pump Action Shotgun and Double Barrel Shotgun

Molly - Stake (with Colt Government Pistol), Micro-Uzi SubMachineGun and Stake Crossbow

Eightball - Pool Cue, Thunder Five (boom!) and Winchester rifle.

Vampires
-----------
Slayers have interrupted your sleep, your pissed off and hungry - go kill! You'll soon notice that the only weapon you have is your claws, touch a slayer with these things and he'll die painfully. To help you with your mission you have a few unique abilities:

· Higher Jumping
· Faster Running
· Leaping
· Invisibility / Silent Leap / Sun Cream depending on which character you choose
· Regain health by drinking blood

The teams are actually quite balanced, the slayers have the weapons while the vampires have the speed, stealth and power. The graphics aren't very good since its using the old half-life engine, but when you have 5 vampires demanding your blood, you don't have time to notice TheSmile.gif

Command and Conquer: Generals

PC/Mac Os
Developer: EA Games
Genre: Strategy

Gameplay: 9
Graphics: 10
Sound:8
Originality:8
Price: $100 (NZ dollars)
Quality: 10
Overall: 9

The latest installment in the command and conquer series is a lot different from the earlier games in the series. There are no construction yards, China and USA have construction Dozers, and the GLA have workers. The game is alot more age of empiresish with new unit upgrades and the dozers and workers.

The graphics are brilliant. No more budget people in front of blue screen cut-scenes, now they are done with the same graphics as the game, and they flow right into the game. You could be playing, but you wouldnt know it because the FMV sequence just finished!

The sound is the games main let down, as each unit only has about 3 phrases to say when you select them and make them do things.

All in all, C&C Generals is a great, challenging game, and with an expansion pack just released, this game will keep you coming back for months.

Need For Speed 2: Hot pursuit

I thought NFS 3 was Hot Pursuit, that's what it was on PSX.

Command And Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour

PC/ Mac Os
Developer: EA Games
Genre: Strategy

(scores are used with C&C Generals)
Gameplay:9
Graphics: 10
Sound: 9
Originality: 8
Price: $50 (NZ dollars)
Quality:10
Game Life: 9 months+
Overall:10

Zero Hour is the expansion pack to Command and Conquer: Generals. This expansion pack focuses mainly on the addition of 'Generals', and the new 'General Challenge' Campaign.

The new addition of 3 generals to each team gives the game a lot more of a 'Generals' feel. Each General has their own speciality: troops, chemical weapons, Nukes etc.
In Generals challenge mode, the player chooses a general, and play a series of skirmishes against other generals, getting harder as they progress.

There are also new campaigns, (15 more levels in total), 30 new units, 20 more technologies and over 15 new General Abilities.

Zero hour is one of the best expansion packs around, and is an essential purchase for anyone who owns C&C Generals.

Instead of having much paragraphing or anything at the end, I will summarize the out of 10 marks. BTW, this is my first review, so don't expect too much.

Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (GT3 for this review), PS2
Developers: Polyphony Digital.
Publishers: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
Age Group: All
Game Type: Car Racing

Gameplay: 9, With 100s of cars and tracks, and a mulitplayer system where up to 6 people can play at once, GT3 will last you a long time.
Graphics: 10, The graphics are similar to those of it's predecesor, Gran Turismo 2, GT3 adds on to the backgrounds, and car details.
Sound: 9, GT3 has a lot of sounds, and a system where you can prioritise your favourites once you get to know them better.
Controls: 9, Simple but effetive controls that are used in almost all Car Racing games.
Originality: 7, There are a lot of Car Racers out there.
Price: Platinum price I think (NZ$60)
Overall: 9, This game is an essential addition to every gamers' collection.
FUN FACTOR: 8
ESRB: Everyone - Mild Lyrics
NUMBER OR PLAYERS: Up to 6

BTW, what I think would be a good idea is that with these reviews, each is posted in it's own topic, so that people can comment on the review or discuss the game without clogging up this topic.

XBOX HALO 2
ages 10 and up
Shooter/ Adventure

Gameplay: 7
Graphics: 8.5
Sound: 7
Controls: 7
Originality: 6 (It's a sequal)
Overall: 7
Fun Factor: 7
ESRB 1-2 (console) and Multiplayer Online

As you will see i gave alot of sevens to this game. That is because it was a very fun game... for a time. This game got so repetitive that it was hard to finish. I'll get lots of pm's about this.
