11th October 2003 - Essential maintenance

RuneScape was temporarily offline for about 2 hours this morning for essential maintenance.
"We have now passed 5 million user accounts", and therefore I had to make some slight changes to our database to accomodate the vast amount of data this involves.

Due to unexpected complications, I had to reset the master login server. What this is means is that anyone who was playing this morning DURING the 2 hour update may find the last few minutes of activity were forgotten. Luckily very few people were affected in this way, and those who were will just find they are standing back where they were when the update started.

I apologise for the inconveniance caused by this maintenance work.

Wow 5 million peeps are playing runescape, i though there was at max 2.5million with accounts guess im wrong............again.........

Anyone want to take bets about how many active players there are? not including those that have quit and all the extra pures and alternate characters

No idea, but I'd guess at least half (2.5 million)

a good thousand but runescape would be chaos if 5mil were on!!!

I'd say about 100000 accounts are active, there are 10000-20000 on at any given time.

I'd say about 500,000 accounts are active (played within last couple months). Max. Most people quit, and tons are pures and alternates.

sice every1 cant be on at the same time, maybe a million but its sad how runescape dont delet accounts, i think that they should delet acts that are 2 years old without ever logging on....any1 agree?

It didn't kick me off, it kept me on, and I logged in the next day and I was in Al Kahrid when I'd walked to Seers the previous night.. :-/
