sorry.. the horse references are hard for me to understand.

I wouldn't admit to that. The others will start trying to explain ponies to you until you're long in the face.

As far as ponies go, it's nothing sexual. It's kind of a hopeful thing to see a cartoon as well made as that nowadays. When you have the absolute {expletive hax0rd by Cspace}hole that is cartoons on TV anymore, that's nothing but toilet humor and have nothing in the way of any real reason to watch, it's refreshing to see something that is earnestly trying to show people that there's still some good writers out there that can come up with decent stories and such.
From being around the internet so long and becoming jaded to damn near about everything, I enjoy sitting down and watching cartoons like I did when I was a kid. But what do I have anymore? Nothing has any substance anymore. There's no Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There's no Transformers (That's worth 30 minutes to watch). There's nothing at all. MLP is something I can sit down and say "I see humor in this, and a lot of other people won't. Someone wrote this for an older audience, and I appreciate it."
That's basically it. I'm not in it for any weird perverted sense. And when it first came out, I was against it. "No way I'd be caught dead watching that." Gave it a try, and watched 3 hours worth of poni.
But even with all the love and kindness and happiness that poni helps spread, there's one thing I absolutely do not tolerate.
{expletive ninja'd by Cspace}ing homestuck.
Sweet Emperor, I hate homestuck so much, and the people that follow it. I know people irl who flip their {expletive hax0rd by Cspace} if anyone mentions it, and it takes everything to keep me from knocking them through a wall.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

this explains a lot about why I started hearing about 19-20something year old young men liking MLP a while back.

Because folks in my age group are used to there being GOOD cartoons. Like the old Cartoon Cartoon show, Transformers, TMNT, GI Joe, etc. Old MLP was a sack of crap, and the Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends came about. Samurai Jack, too. MLP was produced by the people that came up with both of those, and brought their style and storywriting back. So people who are used to GOOD animated shows finally have something back, that's on the same level of humor as they want, but still a good show for kids.
