Hey all SeeDs and CurvedSpacians!

Before I say anything else, I would like to thank everyone for making everything here possible.

Truthfully I see SeeD as one of Runescape's major "superpowers", and possibly one of the greatest clans of our cause. While I will agree that some of our members have become inactive, many more are active, and when I say that I mean it as truly active. Of all the clans of our size, at least from my perspective and from feedback, it seems that SeeD provides members with more of an "identity" in Runescape than others of more than 100 members. Our community has always been strong, and I see it in Runescape every time I sign on. We encountered many obstacles recently, though I believe that almost all of them have been tackled and I can easily see something propelling us into a new "age" (if you've read our history). Maybe not as the "Peacekeepers of Runescape", due to the fact that the game is so large, though we can become a major force in the advancement of our principles. Just keep doing what we're doing and I can see this naturally happening relatively soon.

At the same time, CurvedSpace has grown into a rather large community based on a variety of themes. Our gaming community is strong as well, and soon we will form an inter-game alliance of guilds. All I have to say is that some great things will be happening to CurvedSpace in the near future, and none of it will be possible without our current support. TheSmile.gif

You're probably wondering about what these "great things" will be, and that's what this thread is for. Read on if you're interested in our plan for the following months:

Beginning of November 2003: DarkStorm Online, our roleplay community, will be officially launched. Right now this is our largest priority (for it has been in the works for months), but when it is up it will be a great place to show off your roleplay skills or participate in an ongoing world of your imagination. If you are new, you can check out what we have currently in the DarkStorm Forum.

Shortly After DarkStorm Online Is Up: SeeD will have its Garden update online. This will be a fairly major update to our organization, dividing current Gardens into other larger groups. The current Gardens will exist, though as groups within Gardens (yep, "Garden" is going to have a new meaning, more like in Final Fantasy VIII). Currently we will divide the current Gardens into Balamb, Trabia, Galbadia, and some other Garden. Obviously they will be large, and will adopt the same definition as they once had two years ago when we were quite small (as "sub-clans", as 9 members in a Garden was considered a major group back in the days bluetongue.gif ). A new rank will also be added, the "Headmaster". They would basically be like commanders for an entire Garden. This will hopefully improve activity by urging more members to work together, as well as allowing more events to take place. Old Gardens will also be distributed throughout the new Gardens, so that when old members come back they will not be alone anymore. grnwink.gif

Decemberish, 2003: We will advance our gaming community by contacting guilds and clans in other games to be sponsored by CurvedSpace. While hopefully improving their traffic, in return we will be indirectly placing our roots in a number of different games. This will give members a place to go if they play a listed game, as well as allow for official events in a number of games that would not previously be possible.

February, 2004: We may begin to focus on EverQuest as well as Runescape around this time (no, we aren't spreading SeeD to EverQuest, hehe). This would be about the right time to get into EQ2, coming out a few months later, if we plan to receive another burst of search engine traffic. If we can establish connections in EverQuest, it could be very good for CurvedSpace. Don't worry, the community will remain the same (no "EverQuest Forum" or anything like that, maybe a MMORPG forum with sub forums, but if that is the case EQ will not be the only thing there).

April, 2004: By now you may expect CurvedSpace software to become available on the site. I am currently studying programming and will be creating usable programs eventually, and why not make them available to members? Games are the most likely programs to be available at first (I like being creative, hehe), but expect a variety of things as I experiment with concepts.

Ongoing Process: CurvedSpace and SeeD are currently in a process of expansion and everyone can expect more staff members. This will allow for improved support, quicker response to problems, more activity on the forums (and DarkStorm), and more stuff on the site. I'm beginning to make contacts with people I know, as well as asking for applications from current members to handle various aspects.

These are just our major plans, you can expect a lot more as time goes on.

... So how can you help SeeD and CurvedSpace? Easy! Enjoy our community, and it would be great if you can tell others about us. Also, don't be afraid if you would like to host an event in any game. You don't even need to have permission to host something, we will contact you if something isn't quite right. Just post in the Event/Contest Forum and promote it however you would like! thumb.gif

In conclusion, I see SeeD and CurvedSpace going in a great direction. Again, thank you very much for your support!

... Mods, thank you for maintaining the forums as actively as you are and have been!

... Leaders of SeeD, thanks for conducting the clan with great success over the past two years! There is no way that SeeD would be where it is today if it weren't for you.

... Thanks to all the staff members! There's no way that the site could be maintained without your support.

... And I would like to thank everyone else for being a part of our community, even through our many conflicts and difficulties. TheSmile.gif

And with that I'll be off, see ya'll again with another "future" thread next year!

So this new garden arrangement... do you mean SeeD will be divided into 4 sections, then each of those 4 sections be divided into 2 or so sections? And if I may suggest that we only let active members be in gardens, because our "650+" members isnt exactly accurate. We only have about 30 or so active members. Saying that we have over 600 members is like a lie. I remember hearing about a clan that boots people off if they dont post at least once in a week(unless they post something about their leave), so that they are 100% active. I'm not saying we should do that, but at least only keep track of our active members.

All of the current Gardens will stay together, but will be grouped according to a broader organizational structure.

Over 400 members registered themselves on the member manager, the only notices about the new list were posted on the site.

Another great "Future Thread!" biglaugh.gif

It looks like the SeeD members once again have many things to look forward to. CurvedSpace and SeeD. Let's see how much I have to say on each topic/prediction.

DarkStorm will be great for these forums. It's something fun and interesting for SeeDs to do. Participatants will definitely improve their roleplaying skills which may even become useful for them in the future.

The Garden Update will definitely improve the organization of SeeD's members. It will also bring SeeD's members together, which may lead to a few new things. Also, we won't have "old members returning problem" anymore. biglaugh.gif

Decemberish. . .what will he come up with next? biggrinbandit.gif

Members will have many more things to do and probably discover new games that they enjoy. This will also help out the SeeD members that have found Runescape boring after playing it for so long. A good variety of games will keep everyone from being bored out of their minds. rotate.gif

This will be great for CurvedSpace. It's a good idea not to spread SeeD to EQ. It would get pretty complicated. Varely any SeeDs play EQ anyways. bluetongue.gif Many EQ players are experienced gamers and make be good assets to the clan.

You just keep giving and giving Cspace. You definitely deserve a lot for all that you've done for so many people. I bet time is one of the most desirable gifts on your list, hehe. biggrinbandit.gif

SeeD/CurvedSpace will definitely need more staff members to maintain the clan when we receive all of this traffic from other games (like EQ).

It's great to be a member of such successful clan with so many goals and future improvements. I hope to stay here as long as possible to experience all of this. TheSmile.gif

By the end of the year I plan to live by my own 29 hour clock and a calendar based on 45 day months and two seasons biglaugh.gif

DM: Sounds great! biggrinbandit.gif I should try that, hehe.

Hyper: Man, I should try that... Probably a lot more time-efficiant, heh.

Yeesh, Cspacer.

Last time, it seemed like a lot of empty promisses. HOWEVER... This appears to really have so backing behind it, and I do believe you are true to your word.

Not that I say you are untrustworthy, heck, I'd trust you to shoot an apple off my head virtually anyday.

On another note: IF you make the MMORPG forum, I would like to apply for admin if possible, to cut your workload.. okay? Also... Would it be possible, from the summer, to create on online game like runescape? It's been my dream for the past 7 years (well, online medieval game) and I've never possessed the ability to make it, but I've made several drawing, game maps, skill trees, armors, weapons, and such. Not to mention guilds up the wazoo that have actual roles in the game (When you start, you can go to the newbie guild to train your skill sup to level 20, then you can go to another guild and pay for membership. From there, depending on how much you payed, when training inside there, you get multiplied experience. Of course, the higher your level, the more money you would have to pay.) Also, in that game... oh heck.. contact me sometime if you're interested. I'll explain the whole thing.

I have been considering the construction of an online DarkStorm, though this would not happen for at least a couple years. I've been experimenting with various 3D engines, though one must remember that making a decent game takes a looooong time (and money).

Perhaps eventually this may happen, though don't expect anything like this anytime within the near future.

Okay, but if we were to do some simple graphics like RS... would you help on the programming? I mean, I've got the game concept finished, a storyline, some quests, and a load of different stuff, but I don't possess the ability to do it.

Also, Crud. Talk to me on AIM sometime, I don't want to send another PM and overload you more, besides, it'll get lost there anyway bluetongue.gif I need to ask something somewhat important to me. Awww heck, I'll send a PM. Sorry sad.gif

Heh... I've been working on a multiplayer fantasy game for a few years... but I forget all about it every time I try to write down my thoughts, or work on it bluetongue.gif I might end up making it text-based...

Plans sound cool. Err... perhaps there should be a "State of the CurvedSpace" address every few months, lol.

Also, I agree on the active members thing. This might get annoying, but email everyone once per month, and have them confirm that they're still active. If they don't respond by the time the next email goes out, mark them as "Missing in Action" or something.

If we don't have an official newsletter, perhaps we could get an email alert list for info whenever there's a site update. It only takes a few minutes to set up you know grnwink.gif
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.
