As many of you probably know, the marquees have not been updated in a long time. This is due to the fact that they are separate, and while I can use a shared animation (in Flash), updates take a relatively long time when considering that it's just a marquee. As a solution, I figured that I can add the new marquee to the forums. It is smoother, easier to update, and available to everyone from both sites.

I was just wondering what you think about it. Feel free to post comments here grnwink.gif

Personally, I don't like the marquee on the forums. Cspace, you obviously put a lot of work into this, but I have dial-up with a 28.8k connection, and this slows down my browser and makes it take about 50% more time to load the page... Really, I'd prefer to not have a forum marquee... But I'm probably the only one, so it doesn't matter...

I'm a bit confused of the question. Does it mean, "Yes"= No more marquee on the SeeD and Cspacezone sites, but still on forums? and "No"= Everything has marquee. I think I just fixed my computer a bit, but I'd still prefer no marquee on the forums just in case i didn't fix it.... Really, I don't think we need it on the forums since its on the sites.

Just like not having meetings in member areas... it is best that you should think about Dial-Up people while updating sites or anything for that matter.

It's just a matter of fairness y'know... to us with broadband, it doesn't matter, but those who do have dial-up know the feeling all too well.

The reason that it is taking so long is because it still need some work, and everything in it is being loaded at the same time. I'm not trying to cause problems for dial up users (I have 56k by the way). I'm tempted to re-script it, so please don't vote "no" if you want a marquee here instead, but it slows down your browser. I'm going to fix that.

It would either be the forums or the site. On the site, it would not be updated as quickly and I would have to update two of them. On the forums, I can update one which can be seen from users of SeeD and CurvedSpace. At the same time, it will be easier to post messages from other members. Update: I am sorry about the confusion with the speed, the marquee was still under construction though seemed to be causing problems in certain browsers (I have 56k and nothing went wrong, though scripts like these work differently depending on many reasons). For this reason I have taken the marquee off, and will place it back on the forums when I fix the problem and if everyone agrees that it should be placed here instead of SeeD and CurvedSpace. Again, I am sorry about the inconvenience this afternoon.

Well, I certainly agree. It works for me on 56k and Broadband, and I like to read it once in a while.
