For those that are in the process of playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, I thought I'd pass on a little helpful information about the job combinations that are good for each race.

Humans
The most well-rounded race in the game, most of the Human combinations I've come up with focus on fighting, while some focus on emphasizing the Human expert classes that get unique abilities, such as Hunter and Blue Mage.
Paladin/Thief
You can use either class to be dominant on this, as they're both quite excellent. The Paladin has the strongest weapons in the game, while the Thief is fast, agile, and can move and jump a lot. Also, the Paladin's Chivalry abilities can be used with a powerful Thief's dagger, while a Thief's stealing abilities can also greatly give a Paladin the edge in a clash of blades. As both of these classes are fighting classes, good other abilities may include the reaction ability Reflex and the support ability Double Sword.
Hunter / Archer
Yeah, so human archers don't really match up to Viera archers, but having a hunter around is quite important. A hunter's capturing abilities are necessary if you want to use the Nu Mou Morpher job, and an archer serves as a nice complement in abilities, as they both use bows to attack, and you won't have to worry about changing much equipment when you switch the character between jobs. Good other abilities include Reflex and Concentrate.
Blue Mage / Illusionist
Well, Blue Mages can be capable of doing most things on their own if you learn all their abilities, and are strong physically compared to other mage classes. However, if you can't find a Blue Magic spell appropriate for the situation, just unleash a Phantasm Skill from the Illusionist side of the character, and hit every enemy on the screen. The Illusionist abilities aren't all that strong, but as they hit every enemy on the screen, they're still helpful. I wouldn't recommend them for Nu Mou, as Nu Mou have much stronger spellcasting classes, but for Humans, Illusionists provide a nice complement to the Blue Mage's abilities.
Paladin / Fighter
If you want raw power, this is the class combination in which you can't go wrong. Both classes have a variety of powerful weapons, while the Fighter adds a few long range techniques to the mix. Naturally, if you can Doublehand or Double Sword to add power to your physical attacks, that's a good thing. The Strikeback reaction ability is VERY useful for this class combination. If you want the most power, make the Paladin the dominant class in this, as they have stronger weapons and can equip better armor, while using the Fighter's ranged abilities. The downside to using the Paladin as the dominant class is that the Fighter's are slightly faster and more agile.

Bangaa
Blech, I didn't like the slimy lizards too much. I couldn't really find a class combination that worked well for me with them, so I ended up moving my Bangaa all over the place. Anyway, Bangaa tend to focus on physical powers, while a few of their classes have decent spells.
Dragoon / Defender
The Defender has a built-in powerful ability combo. First use Aura, to give the Defender auto-life. Then use Meltdown on any enemy, doing damage in the Defender's max HP to the target while killing the Bangaa. However, the Bangaa will be revived with Auto-Life, and re-enter the battle. This is a very useful combo, but needs a melee range to be used, while Bangaa don't exactly have very good movement range. Therefore, make the Bangaa a Dragoon, and jump on enemies from far away until you can get in close and use Meltdown. The strength of these two is mostly separate, not as a result of their combination.
*NOTE:* A spear must be equipped to use the Dragoon's jump ability, and Defenders can't equip Spears, so while you're learning other Defender abilities, it might be a good idea to combine something else with Defender, such as Gladiator.
Dragoon / Gladiator
Gladiators are a lot like Fighters, really. They also get a very powerful Ultima Sword ability. Turn a Gladiator with Ultima Sword into a Dragoon, and use his Ultima Sword ability at the two-panel attack radius of a spear, and you'll be a happy camper. Dragoons also have Jump, which you can use while you're waiting to get in range for Ultima Sword. The strength from this one comes more from the combination of the two than the two individually.
*NOTE:* A spear must be equipped to use the Dragoon's jump ability, and Gladiators can't equip Spears, so while you're learning other Gladiator abilities, it might be a good idea to combine something else with Gladiator, such as Defender.
Bishop / Templar
Unlike the mage classes of most races, Bangaa mage classes still have decent attack power. The disadvantage that Bangaa spellcasters get is in Speed. However, that's easily compensated for with the Templar's Haste ability. The Bishop can learn a wide variety of offensive and defensive magic, ranging from Barrier to Water to Cura to Holy to Break. Templar are a bit stronger than Bishops physically due to their ability to equip spears, so unless you're learning Bishop abilities, I'd recommend keeping Templar as the dominant class.

Nu Mou
Nu Mou are the strongest spellcasters in the game, and boast a wide variety of powerful spells pretty much regardless of what class you make them. Nu Mou are quite weak physically, and really don't have any classes that ever need to rely on physical attacks anyway.
Sage / Alchemist
This is the best class combination Nu Mou have to offer, hands down. The Sage's spells are insanely powerful, especially Giga Flare. The Alchemist also possesses several powerful spells, such as Meteor and Death. If you keep the dominant class as an Alchemist, the unit can still use items along with two action abilities. However, Sages are generally stronger and have higher stat growth at level ups. If you give this job combination the Turbo MP ability, learned from the White Mage,
the power of spells such as Giga Flare and Meteor will be doubled, in exchange for doubling the MP cost. Nu Mou tend to regain MP quickly, so MP generally won't be a problem, and you'll double the power of all your favorite spells so that they do insane damage to multiple targets. Who can argue with that?
Black Mage / White Mage
This isn't as powerful as the one mentioned above, but it's great for early in the game. The basis behind this class is simple, as the Black Mage has good offensive magic, while the White Mage has powerful defensive and healing magic. Turbo MP, learned from the White Mage, helps by doubling the power of basic spells. Again, not overly powerful, but well-balanced and excellent for early on in the game.

Viera
Viera are my overall favorites. They have possibly the widest variety of insanely powerful classes, and generally move the fastest of any race. They lack a bit in the HP and Defense category, but as the majority of the classes I use them for have ranged attacks, that isn't too much of a problem.
Assassin / Sniper - "Shadow Hunter"
...Wow, it's hard to find a class better than this. Equip Max's Oathbow, and use the Assassin's Ultima Masher ability. VERY powerful. Watch out equipping Max's Oathbow, though, as toward the end of the game, a lot of enemies will absorb its Darkness-elemental attack. Assassins also have other very valuable abilities: Last Breath, Rockseal, Nightmare...the list is long. Add in Sniper abilities for when you need to charge MP to use Assassin abilities, and you're set. This is probably the most useful class combination in the game, hands down.
Red Mage / Summoner
...Didn't we JUST HAVE an insanely powerful Viera class? Red Mages can learn the Doublecast ability, enabling them to cast any spell twice, including ultra-powerful Summons. Yeah, it's fun. And dangerous. Red Mages also have the Sleep ability, very useful for, what a surprise, putting enemies to sleep. With the ability to put up to ten enemies to sleep per turn (it's not gonna happen, that's just what'd be mathematically possible) and the ability to summon twice a turn, this is another basically invincible class that's essential to an insanely powerful team. Also, if you come across Holy-absorbing equipment, put a character with Holy absorbing equipment in the midst of half a dozen enemies, then summon Madeen in the area when that character starts to get jumped on. Madeen does powerful holy damage, which will heal your suicidal unit and cause massive damage to all those surrounding it.
Assassin / Elementalist
Well, if you don't find yourself ever running out of MP and needing to use Sniper abilities, as the Assassin's normal attacks are already quite formidable, you might prefer to give your Assassin Elementalist abilities instead. Elementalist abilities do a decent amount of damage to an area, and add on a status effect to boot. Elementalists also have a few healing abilities, just in case you don't have anything better to do.

Moogles (Kupo!)
Moogles are fun little critters to use. Most classes under their belt can deal out a wide variety of status effects at a fairly high accuracy. Even if you don't like status effects, moogle classes can dish out a lot of damage.
Gunner / Mog Knight
If you learn the Mog Knight's Ultima Charge ability, you can use that ability from the range of your weapon. If you make that Mog Knight into a Gunner, you can use that ultra-powerful Ultima Charge from the furthest attack range in the game. The Mog Knight / Gunner is mostly useful for this one combination of specialties. The Gunner also has a lot of status-inflicting abilities to take advantage of, such as Charmshot and Stopshot. You can't go wrong with this class.
Time Mage / Animist
The widest variety of status effects in the game. Period. With this combination of classes, you can Haste, Quicken, Reflect, and Protect&Shell your allies, while causing Sleep, Charm, Frog, Berserk, Slow, Stop, and Silence upon your enemies. Animists also have other unique abilities, such as Chocobo Rush, to hit every enemy on a line for decent damage, or Cuisine, to fully cure one of your units. With the insane variety of status effects this guy can bring about, you don't want to mess with him. Otherwise you'll be sleeping stopped charmed frog. Heh.

I think that pretty much covers all the very strong classes in the game, those you would want to use for their insane powers, and those that would help you in a crisis. I hope this helped anyone that was having any trouble finding good classes for this game, and if you haven't had any trouble, I hope it was just interesting to read. Peace.

...yeah. So for those that have played the game, tell me what you think! I might do other things like this in the future.

Well you have more knowledge about what really works in the game than I do, but I'll still say a few of my favourites.

I do quite like the Fighter/Paladin combination with a dominant Fighter, but it does limit the amount of MP you have to use a few of the Paladin's a-abilities. Doesn't usually matter, but quite annoying when it gets in the way. Get Air Render early on, it is very useful. Beatdown is useful in a pinch, but it can be quite a gamble. Far Fist is for when they're slightly out of range of Air Render, or when there are multiple enemies. I like Bonecrusher as my counter ability, attacking at 1.5 times your normal damage usually obliterates any non-boss enemies stupid enough to attack you. I'm currently learning Double Sword, which should increase his usefulness a lot. Dash Boots and Angel Ring are my favourite accessories for this combination.

I have a dominant Fighter with hunter abilities, although this means you can only capture from the adjacent square. However that lets me capture monsters without having a character specifically around to do that.

Another character I quite like is having a Nu Mou Morpher with beastmaster abilities on standby. Not particularly strong, but morpher can be quite good when you have a range of souls to choose from, and beastmaster is useful for teaching blue magic.

I'll add a few more when I get a chance.

Bump...

Crescens, got any more tips?

Beaten the game now, just doing missions.

Update for my main character.

Dominant Fighter with thief abilities. Ayvuir Red and Avyuir Blue for his weapons (using doublesword). Fairy shoes, angel ring and acacia hat provide unlimited height for jumping, good range (thankyou acacia hat, thankyou) of attack, immunity to most status effects and an auto-life. Bonecrusher works well here, very strong attack. Fighter contributes the long range techs, as well as a few other useful techniques for several situations. Thief techniques are cool, you can fight weak people, let them hit you and then steal their experience.

For those that doubt this combination, I was able to defeat the second form of Remedi, despite the fact she knocked out all but 2 members with alpha in the first round. Marches attack was able to kill Remedi in 2 turns, and i could have done it in 1 if i wanted to, using a combo.

Bump. This is mostly for OM, 'cause he said he'd be getting the game soon. Be sure to use this post for reference on what classes to use, OM!

I haven't played it at all lately, and I never managed to complete all 300 missions and get Cid. Ah well. I just bumped this because OM told me he was getting the game, and I wanted him to have the benefit of knowledge.

I think I already told you this, but it seems the game will only allow you to obtain one Acacia hat. Pity, equipping your entire team with them would certainly make you a force to be reckoned with.
