First Riddle...

k this is my first riddle...

There was a man named Tom that was going to his job interview. however, he was not in a car or in an accident but at his home when he caused a traffic jam. How did this happen?

(if it's not clear just post, cuzz this is my first riddle...)

I was thinking that, but Korb's answer of he was driving a mobile home seems much more realistic.

Yes he was in a mobile home, but you have to be more specific...

He lived on a sailing boat, and on the way in to town (on a canal?) they had to raise a bridge for him?
