Yes, because 'launching them into the sun' was harmless and slightly humorous in a way. However, calling them 'scum' and putting them down is hardly necessary and is likely to offend people, as it has. I didn't notice that until the topic was brought to my attention.

Remember, I go to your school, and I know of about three people who wear trenchcoats. I do not believe that you associated with them at all other than one, and he no longer wears one.

This is offensive and borderline flaming. Remember this is your view, and you don't have to impose it on everyone by offending them.
Regarding those 'fake disorders', I am sorry but I will have to disagree completely with that. The mind is a lot more complex than you think, and those who have these disorders have actual difficulty controling them in certain circumstances. I know a few people who have them and it is obvious that they aren't 'faking' anything. Also, while a number of factors can bring them about, none are voluntary.
Also, I would like some actual, tangible evidence or statistics explaining how goths "are completely incapable of simple spelling or grammar", and also that they are not generally intelligent. Being 'gothic', actually, does not have a correlation with intelligence.
And to conclude my comments about this quote, I would like to say that Edgar Allan Poe was not a goth. He may have been like a goth in some ways, but there was no such thing in the early 19th century.

There is no purpose for your flaming, remember that these are your views and not factual evidence.
I am not a goth or punk, however I see no reason for flaming them based on generalizations (or anything). They are not bad people like you are saying, and I have many friends who can be considered goths or punks to a certain extent and they are nothing like you say. Please stop this flaming, for it has no purpose.

Double-Post: Leave this open unless it gets worse. This has not yet warranted censoring and can continue as it was intended. Also, do not move it, for placing it in Debate could spark potentially harmful and unnecessary comments.
I don't see how putting it in Debate could make it worse. My forum, Debate, simply has more strict of rules against flaming. If anything, it's better off there.

Edgar Allan Poe is just about the definition of a goth. A depressed, crazed, poet. Many modern day goths try to mimic his poetry, and fail miserably. Can't say much else now that Cspace has put the stop sign on my flaming.
And yes, a goth did try to beat me up last year during the "hacky-sack era." Though I exaggerated about him "tripping over his trenchcoat while being laughed at," he did not cause any harm to me.
Maybe genes may affect one's attention span or whatever. But the problem comes from within, when people don't DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. If their attention span is short, they better discipline themselves better and work harder, and DEAL WITH IT. I suffer from 13% autism genetically, but I don't whine about and I don't let it stop me from succeeding. People that have problems in their genes simply need to get over it and deal with it.
Most of the people that have defended their gothic nature in this topic have had the spelling and grammar of a lobotomy patient. Or worse.

one thing i would like to add is that you all say well i might school they do this and that wel that is your school not every goth,punk ect. in the world they could of all been one way and then one of them became umature in some way mabey by emotions and depressment abd then turn them all the same way and thats why but just becuase that one person had gotten something done to them, dosent mean every one in that so called group will happend too it could happend to anyone and then there friend will turn just like them so it is just a cowinadice(sorry i have no clue how to spell lol)

I can list a mess of "depressed, crazed" artists if you would like, and they are not considered goths. Maybe Poe is considered one by today's standards, but I'm sure that he would hardly consider himself one because it is a relatively new concept (and it is not the definition of being depressed and a loner).

I am not going to talk about mental illnesses or depression because I am no doctor, nor do I wish to hurt anyone. However, I will truthfully say that it is not as easy to "deal with it" as you think, otherwise these conditions would all be self-curable (some are, but not all) and no treatments or counseling would be necessary for extreme cases... And don't tell me that anyone who requires that is a failure or anything.
