Hey,

I remembered reading about a program called Trillian... basically, an Über-IM. I finally decided to try it, and IT'S GREAT.

The concept is simple: it combines AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), MSNM (MSN Messenger), YIM (Yahoo! Instant Messenger), ICQ (I Seek You), and IRC (Internet Relay Chat - unfortunately SeeD Chat's server blocks outside clients). This means you can log into everything at once, and talk with all your friends no matter what program they use.

I thought this would be great, since most of us are dedicated to only one or two services... by using Trillian, we'll all be connected. 'Course, you'll still need to make accounts for all the services, but... it's a great step up. The interface is pretty easy to understand, and you don't have to have 5 programs running at once.

Give it a shot. www.ceruleanstudios.com

UPDATE: I am now enabled for everything except IRC (The server for SeeD Chat blocks everything except the Java client built into the site, which mom won't let me use... <_<)

Also, A GODSEND! You can rename people! For instance, I have my brother named simply "Steve" (but Trillian will look for his AIM name, instead of a user called "Steve"). This means it's nigh-impossible to forget who anyone is now!
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I don't know if I have much of a purpose for it. Also, I heard that it messes up your screen name list when you get it, making it very annoying.

I might give it a go later on, but I don't see much of a purpose for it now.

*nods*

I've actually heard more negatives than positives about using trillian and potential problems. It isn't for everyone, but it is good for most people. Definately worth a Try, but don't expect anything, you take what you get.

I just installed it, seems okay. It tells you who are online from all programs easily, and has quite a nice look. However when I first ran it 50 messages came up asking if I wanted to add already existing contacts to my MSN contact list. More than a little annoying...

Sounds very much like ICQ, though I'll give it a try.
