Hey,
I remembered reading about a program called Trillian... basically, an Über-IM. I finally decided to try it, and IT'S GREAT.
The concept is simple: it combines AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), MSNM (MSN Messenger), YIM (Yahoo! Instant Messenger), ICQ (I Seek You), and IRC (Internet Relay Chat - unfortunately SeeD Chat's server blocks outside clients). This means you can log into everything at once, and talk with all your friends no matter what program they use.
I thought this would be great, since most of us are dedicated to only one or two services... by using Trillian, we'll all be connected. 'Course, you'll still need to make accounts for all the services, but... it's a great step up. The interface is pretty easy to understand, and you don't have to have 5 programs running at once.
Give it a shot. www.ceruleanstudios.com
UPDATE: I am now enabled for everything except IRC (The server for SeeD Chat blocks everything except the Java client built into the site, which mom won't let me use... <_<)
Also, A GODSEND! You can rename people! For instance, I have my brother named simply "Steve" (but Trillian will look for his AIM name, instead of a user called "Steve"). This means it's nigh-impossible to forget who anyone is now!

I just installed it, seems okay. It tells you who are online from all programs easily, and has quite a nice look. However when I first ran it 50 messages came up asking if I wanted to add already existing contacts to my MSN contact list. More than a little annoying...
