Alrighty, see if you can follow my logic here.

lets say
a + b = c

If so then
(4-3)a + (4-3)b = (4-3)c
or
4a - 3a + 4b - 3b = 4c - 3c

This can be rearranged like so
4a + 4b - 4c = 3a + 3b - 3c

You can then factor out the coefficients from both sides giving you
4(a + b - c) = 3(a + b - c)

If you divide both sides by (a + b - c) then you are left with this
4=3

Obviously, 4 cannot equal 3, therefor this proof is wrong. Where is the flaw? First one to get it wins a prize.

There have to be circumstances under which a + b = c ...

Algebra? Meh....

Errr... because 4 is greater than 3 therefore, it means that Leftyy hates algebra, and prefers english.

To cres: it is a given, just accept it.

Leftyy: I hate english bluetongue.gif

Powa: Good luck

I got another one too, but it involves a square root sign and I can't make one...

since a+b=c then a+b-c would be 0 and thus 4(a+b-c) would be 0 and 3(a+b-c) would also be 0. and u cant divide by 0 bluetongue.gif otherwise u get an error biglaugh.gif

Psst: to make a square route sign pull up Word and go to insert: symbols; and choose the subset.

I won't even try to figure out what the answer is to this.

Any number divided by zero is considered to be undefined. If you do it on a calculator, you get a syntax error.

1 = -1
1 = sqrt(1) = sqrt(-1 * -1) = sqrt(-1) * sqrt(-1) = i * i = i^2 = -1

it doesnt matter if calculators are used or not its still a divide by 0 error. and if u make a program that divides by 0 u end up with a message like

and that was generated using the c++ programming language and the microsoft visual c++ 6.0 professional compiler biglaugh.gif
