Rrrrrrrrrrrrreal {expletive ninja'd by Cspace} high on drugs."
-- Bill Hicks
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
-- Bill Hicks
"It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on personal freedom. Keep that in mind at all times."

I don't agree with this at all. The wait for the decision of your life is plenty enough. If you committed the ultimate crime, they get the punishment they deserve. Though, no matter what crime, nobody is tortured, as they were in the earlier ages.
~ Yes, because if a family of a murdered victim would like to see justice done. Though, it should be used only with the worst crimes.
~ I'm not a criminal, so it's hard for me to say. But if you put yourself in their shoes, you should know that if you get caught, you're dead. That should get through their minds the consequences of murder.
~ Sure, since no system is perfect. Capital Punishment should only be used in the worst cases. Some people have done really bad things in their past. Though, in one crime, they say they are innocent. Given their background, it seems they should be guilty. Many killed had been proven innocent later... They shouldn't come to conclusions so quickly. I say enforce stronger measures to avoid having this happen.

| 2) I think capital punishment is morally just, but needs to be harsher. |
needs to be harsher??
you dont think its just a little bit in-humane?
of course it doesn't need to be harsher, i mean instead of death penalty just put them in prison for the rest of there live!
i mean what if someone who kills some people gets killed, and they had like a realy good mind that could have been used or they had a realy good idea. at least in prison they could share it all with us.
and sides prisen means they have to sufer! it is what they deserve but no body deserves to die, even if you have killed someone!
what if that person had family, id rather my dad be in prison for the rest of his life then dead!
what if a convic kills some people thenchanges their ways!
and then you injection freaks go around killing them!
MONSTERS!
(not meaning to flame or be horrible, but i realy do feel VERY strongly about this)
edit:
by the way star jedi, if your gonna kill osmeone then why do it painlessly?
cos killing them is the worse thing you can do so it doesnt matter HOW you do it, just as long as it is done.
i mean whats wrong with torture?
if someones definatly gonna die soon then some pain isn't gonna do them any harm because they will forget it all soon!

It needs to be harsher. Sticking someone with a needle is too humane of a way to die. If cows for slaughter can have a spike put through their neck, then why can't mass-murderers?

How bad must life in prison be? In most prisons, "good" inmates (ones who behave well in prison), can have jobs and earn money for their families. These people (used very loosely) can lift weights, play basketball, watch cable television, get a masters degree, or enjoy many luxuries for merely killing someone.
Man, life must be so hard with these amenities. Ooo, ooo, take me next.

"The passions that incline men to peace are fear of death..." Just read that first part, and think about it. Obviously, most people are afraid of death. Thus, they will not commit any actions that they think may cause death. Thus, if the death penalty is made more swift, criminals will fear death more. I'll also pose a question here: if people aren't afraid of death, then what are they afraid of?

Public Speaking. No joke, its the number one fear.
As for torture, I don't like it. I may be joking about it at times, but I am completely against it. The golden rule is do on to others as you would like others to do onto you. If you fear death and torture, why should another suffer through that? Besides, people can change. Just because someone did (insert crime here), doesn't mean he still cannot contribute to our society. Have him do community service. It is my belief that EVERY man, no matter what the circumstance, deserves a second chance. With the death penalty in place, tehy don't get that chance.

exactly so the inmates could, possibly, go on to something usefull with their life, whether its a big thing or a little thing like keeping other inmates (who got a sentence for like robbing a bank) entertained

People might say that public speaking is their worst fear, but no one's going to refuse to speak in public when their live is at stake. While people surveyed might say that they fear public speaking more than death, I highly doubt that that's actually the case.

That is what your ignorance may think. Someone who has no regrets, can do whatever they want for a portion of the day, can exercise and get a good education, can get paid for working has a better life than I have. All they did was kill someone, and get these luxuries.
Next time, don't be so blind.
