I was just thinking and reviewing some old posts, when I came into our "Troubled Era" and found a bit about what caused it... let's see...
1: Authority problems:
People got POed at moderators for doing something that they thought was wrong. OF course, a little mis-understanding led to the mods being correct, which created grudges. I myself was part of this, just incase some of you figure I'm acting like I'm above it all.
2: Moderation differences and variety: Everyone has a personality. naturally, this means diversity in all things do-able. SO, our moderation techniches relfect that. I was a big part of this- my moderation was really random and hypocritical; I have my parents to blame for that, it's the way they use their powers against me. I can't win because they control the computer, then the power, network.. etc. but enough of that. Moderators got mad at eachother because of the differences in moderation. Again, grudges came back to form gapng holes in SeeD.
3: Opinions! People had some good opinions on things, and opposites to contrast. However, people didn't liek these contrasting opinions and assaulted others for their opinions. I don't think I need to mention this led to grudges. Oh wait, I just did ^_^ meh.
4:... grudges (Hehe.. I said it again 4) Grudges would cause people to band against eachother or with eachother to assault another member.
5: Orchestration: Because of ... that word... certain people would band the people together to assault one another. THen someone would step in to say no and stop the conflict, but only end up fighting for one side, no matter how good a mediator they were. Because people only respect big C4 (Cspace, 4 because of his 1001014101410441 code) naturally, EVERYONE got dragged in.
6: Self-Pity: We all got down on ourselves. I even told Cspace (Demanded, acctually) TO ban me and get rid of my powers because I felt I made SeeD a terrible place. But all of us did this... right?... RIGHT? ... *rambles off into the distance about hoes and sickles and cattle*

Main Cause Of Conflicts? Just making chit-chat...

Yeah, it's mainly authority and grudges, and banding together.
In my times here, authority was a big part of why I got annoyed and flamey. I always got annoyed at mod abuse (like, kicking outta the chat for no reason) ((Although no-one uses the chat anymore)) and I just found that I wanted to become a mod, because I thought I was smarter and better than all of them. But the big C4 (good name, referring to him as dynamite?) picks them for a reason, and he trusts them. Now, if I don't like what a mod's doing, I speak it, but not on the forums! I may just think in my head, sometimes I might just talk to a smod and see about it, or maybe even the person themselves, but I don't start arguements by posting about it.
Grudges always hold too, but I do what I said in the last post. If you're not impressed with someones attitude, talk to them, but don't flame. If they flame you, ask them to stop. If they don't then get a smod to talk to them. And most of all, if you hold a grudge, don't do something you'll regret. Think it over, and see if it's the right decision. But they will always be able to get YOU taken down if you flame them. In my experiences, if they flame me, no action's taken, but if I flame them, action IS taken. But live with it. It's life.
Groups banding together always cause problems. Everyone ALWAYS has to take someones side, even the big C4 will. And the larger a group becomes, the bigger debate and flame war it will become. So if possible, just ignore it and don't get involved, otherwise YOU might be the one getting in trouble.
And Lprince, mods are sometimes nice, sometimes not, it depends on the mods. Just ignore them

Yeah, you summed it up fairly well XZ.
Still, things may have been worse if not for a few people that did manage to stay out of the majority of the fights and help out a bit (thinking mainly of Star, MoS, etc.)
And lprince, there are rules set for mods. It isn't perfect, and it often still comes down to their own opinion on issues, but it gives us mods something solid to stand behind when accused of power abuse, and helps to set some rules that are fair for everyone.

Yeah, I saw a lot of what you did... that was generally the case.
But sometimes it's hard to see the full picture and help out with the problem if you're too close to it yourself. A few times I saw you getting drawn into conflicts simply because you were trying to help stop them.
