I was wondering if anyone knew where I could download Norton Anti Virus. Being myself, I have no knowledge of computers whatsoever. My computer has been running quite slow lately (..A lot slower than usual) and I have to restart it about 2 or 3 times an hour because it freezes so much. Yesterday and today, when I got on, Internet Explorer opened up 10 pages of my homepage without my command. I'm also getting that 'blue screen of death' a lot, also..

I'm also embarrissed to say that I have no virus detection programs (Or I may have one, and I'm so computer illiterate, that I have no idea where it is...).

Well, I just need a bit of help in downloading something that can detect viruses x_X

(I would have posted this in Tech. Difficulties, but I went ahead and posted it here to get a few more replys {Though, mods are free to move it there if they would like})

KC: I'll keep it here, it's pretty important. This is something that everyone should have, and this is a great place for them to find it

1. Go to www.symantec.com (Symantec is Norton's parent company)
2. Click Downloads.
3. Scroll down and click the bright red "DOWNLOAD NOW!" button
4. Fill out the form and download a trial... I believe it's a 30-day trial.

Somewhere on the site they also have an online scan.

You could also probably look on Google for McAffe or some other virus program, and find a free download.

Be careful for fake programs though.

You could also probably look on Google for McAffe or some other virus program, and find a free download.

Department of Defense employees (including military) and their immediate families get cheap McAfee stuff (so cheap that the firewall and virus scanner are actually free). So, for some of you, this could be an option.

And may I stress this... ADAWARE and Spy Bot Search & Destroy!!!!

It COULD be a virus on your system, but more than likely your system's being SWAMPED with Spyware..

Download both ^^ Free..

And Vet Anti-Virus is an Ok virus scan, doubt it's free though.

(And personally, I run AVG and VET, although two virus scanners usually clash, but no probs yet. And I run SBS&D and Adaware)

Well, we ended up wiping our whole computer (Using System Recovery). I've been using my laptop while we wiped and set up the computer, and now this computer is virus free! Is also so much faster.. It's like a brand new computer eek7.gif We also went out and just bought the CD for Norton. Phieta's download was four hours long x_X

I still don't know what virus I had, but at least it's gone now. *Gives A Sigh Of Relief*
