It think it's a gerbil, but I'm sure you want something more specific.

Oh my god, so cute. The hind legs and demonstrated bipedalism make me think kangaroo mouse.

No, and no. That's just a lucky shot on the photographer's part in regards to the "standing up", it's pretty common for these sorts of animals to stand up to have a quick look around, and to sit on the haunches to eat using the front paws hand-like. You're both in the ballpark though, as far as its Order is concerned.

Hint: I and they live in Florida. We studied the ones around Cape Canaveral on the air force station.

Perhaps it's some kind of ground squirrel...

Nope, no ground squirrels in Florida bluetongue.gif. In fact, we have only 4 squirrel species (Gray, Fox, and Southern Flying, and one of the chipmunks which is only in northwest FL) *Points at the mouse tail* A really hefty (or pregnant) one of this might tip the scales at about 17 grams (=a few pennies). We found a 6 gram juvenile once. It's a Florida or Southeastern (depending who you ask) beach mouse, relative of the old field mouse.

I suspect it to be a snake.

I only know about local snakes, and I don't recognize this one. The coloring suggests it may be from a desert environment. It also looks to be a juvenile.

It's a corn snake, Elaphe guttata. It's found in Florida, and also ranges through the southeast and up the Atlantic to New Jersey. Lives in a variety of forest habitats. And this one's full grown (presumably, it at least shows a mature color pattern).

Given Ziggy was the first to state the obvious >_<, he can take it.

I guess I should post something...

You can't use the same tactic that I did. (Sorry, I didn't know where to get a better picture.)
