Think There's Life Elsewhere?

I once visited a fundamentalist Christian website that had the same question posed.
The main answer was that "God created life on earth, and nowhere else. It's in the bible, and that's the way it is."
Now, to prevent this from turning to a religious topic, I'll state my side quickly and hope nobody else will linger on the aforementioned reason.
I'm Christian, yes, but I think that just because God doesn't say he put life somewhere else doesn't mean he didn't. He never has to tell us His plans for anything.
PLUS, I think it's rather conceited of the human race to think we're the only ones that exist in the universe. Surely there's something somewhere else. We haven't even covered 1/1zillionth of 1/1zillionth of the universe. Why can't there be something else?

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Thank God for not turning this into a religious argument. He did make me somewhat atheist, after all.
Yea, figure THAT out.
Yep.
There -has- to be life out there. 'sif Stargate, Star Wars, Firefly, etc.. could all be wrong. <_< They're based on real life events!
Mmk, enough jokes. There just has to be life elsewhere. I can't imagine earth being the only planet in the entire everythingness that has life.
And plus, I want laser guns to be invented. We need aliens' help for that. <_<

Yes, somewhere out there aliens probably will exist. I see the chances of us ever meeting face-to-face with another species as being quite low though, nevermind another sentient species. I suspect that lifebearing planets are reasonably sparse, so much so that there is not much chance of there being a planet that just happened to produce sentient life around the same time frame as ours did within reasonable travelling distance of here, even once we're able to accelerate almost to the speed of light and take advantage of relativistic effects. Barring some sort of 'hyperdrive' (which I find unlikely, narrative necessity aside) then the most we can probably hope for is perhaps one day detecting signs of another civilization far outside of our range.

Millions of galaxies, billions of stars in those galaxies. Somehow it seems odd that only one of those planets would be able to support life, especially since life seems to be very adaptive here on Earth.

QFT.
Not trying to spark anything, but I seriously don't see how that's the least bit trolling.

I wasn't attempting to troll. I was giving my honest to goodness view of the subject.
Or I misunderstood your post. Elaborate? <3

It would be narrow-minded to think there isn't sentinent life on other planets.
It would be narrow-minded to think our intelligence, or possibly even more intelligence on different life.
I would be narrow-minded to say no.
No offence to anybody who says no.
