In some schools and colleges, papers are submitted online for plagiarism checking. Some classes assign quizzes and homeworks that are entirely online. In some programming classes, projects are tested by computers instead of humans.
I'm sure there are other instances of this as well.
What do you think about it?

I hate how it gives teachers the ability to make things due outside of class. In other words, teachers will give you homework and make it due midnight the night before the next class. That way, you can't do it in study hall right before class, which is where I tend to get most of my work done. Other than that, I like online submissions.

Oblig. xkcd
I'm taking three classes right now; one more and I'd officially be a full time student. I'm also working "part time" (with full time commitment). I do next to nothing on-campus; one class is entirely online and the other two have one meeting a month. If I had a normal two- or three- or five-day-a-week class schedule I wouldn't be able to survive. I'll be doing the same thing full-time next semester, and hopefully have better pay and plenty of savings so I can do all my "real" (i.e. on-campus only) classes, again full-time, for '09-'10 before I transfer.
I'm cool with having my weekly quizzes graded by Moodle and my monthly tests graded by Scantron. If I'm gonna write an essay, I can accept it being checked against some huge database to make sure I'm not a plagiarist; I'm not really in love with the idea and I don't want whatever company's involved to use my work for any other purpose than proof-of-authorship, but I don't cheat my way through life and too many other people do, so I'll go along with it... though if my paper falsely gets flagged as plagiarized, I damn well better be able to challenge it.

Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.
