What is spam?
Spam can be defined as uneccesary posting...whether it be double posting (posting consecutively in the same topic) making posts that consist of " " or "lol"
Mod Phi: "SPAM" can also stand for "Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages." "Short" can replace "Stupid" in some cases, but short posts can be good posts.
DM: Spamming can alse be simply requests to reply to your topic, especially if it's a double-post. It doesn't take a few minutes like on other popular boards to get a reply. Just be patient, every topic (except for an occasional one or two) is replied to in these forums, so don't worry.
So what?
When you spam, members think less of you, and it generally frustrates other people.
Mod Phi: It frustrates others by cluttering things. Besides, spam wastes space as far as file storage goes... though a forum like this usually has plenty available, so that doesn't really matter.
Ok, I spam, so now what?
Always,ALWAYS try your best to use proper grammar, capitilization, and punctuation.
Alpha: Mods will in no way punish you for bad grammer or spelling. That doesn't mean go ahead and be bad at it, because by doing so, people will respect you less.
Kaiser: And remember, if you get into the habit of using proper spelling and punctuation, you're likely to get into the habit of using it elsewhere, which will benefit you.
Before you post a reply in a discussion or start a topic ask yourself the following questions: Is this relevant? Does this contribute to the topic? Does my post make sense? Is it offensive to others? (If it is offensive, DON'T EVEN POST IT)
Mod Phi:Here's something I found on another site: "Before posting a reply, please ask yourself the following question: "Does my reply offer any advice or contribute positively to the conversation in any fashion?" If you can answer "yes" to this, then please reply. If you cannot, then please don't reply."
Look at members who tend to use good grammar, and never have one word replies. You should try and post like some of them.
Don't flame! Flaming can include short posts that pretty much consist of "stfu" or "wtf, ur a jerk stfu"
Dude, that's nice, but I can't help it
Control your urges to spam! Try to type out words like you instead of u. Type why instead of y. Things like that make this forum more enjoyable.
Are you done yet?
Yes I am!
It's hard to a write a large guide on how to not spam...well, this is what I got, post your comments.
You should follow these guidelines to make SeeD an even better place. Now we all know how to not spam! Yay!

A little bit of shortening is often okay, I understand that a lot of people have trouble typing quickly. If you're able to use proper grammar people are often more willing to read your posts (less effort to read), but if you can't help it then that is that. The other rules are good though.
Good guide, Muler.

About the typing thing, though... a post can be typed improperly (improper spelling and grammar) and still be a good post. However, while some of us can read them (I can usually read l33tsp33k and internet shorthand almost as fast as proper English), others aren't used to it and will simply stare at the post in question, shrug, and skip it... occasionally flaming the poster in the process.

Take your time, write like it should be written. As Phieta stated, abbrevations CAN have other consequenses than just looking plain annoying, people may not understand it.
For example, when I started playing War Craft III, there were a lot of terms that I didn't understand, like "TD" "Gosu" and other stuff, and it can really annoying the heck out of you. So PLEASE, try to follow Muler's guidelines.

Anyway, you forgot doing other stuff that ticks people off. Please do not use a color hard on the eyes, do not use an excessively large font, and do not hit enter too many times.
Like this, see how annoying that is?

Ok i slightly edited this post but check out the bottom of alpha's signature. The annoying sentence and the last lines of your signature have two thing in common with
'Anyway, you forgot doing other stuff that ticks people off. Please do not use a color hard on the eyes, do not use an excessively large font, and do not hit enter too many times.'
Your signature uses the same colour and is in quite a large font. yes?

This isn't signiture ediquite, though. There is a good reason for it being that size and color, and it has to do with what it is. I'm thinking about changing it anyway.
Edit: Large purple isn't hard on the eyes. Its that small purple that is bad. Maybe gray, too, haven't tried...
Purple

Before posting in -ANY- topic in -ANY- forum, always[B] check post dates.
For those of you who have trouble finding post dates on a thread and can't understand what we're talking about when we say "This post is dead, don't revive.", I have taken pictures to post that will explain where they are.
A post from today:

A post from Yesterday:

A recent post (Within a few days time):

A post from years ago, or "Dead thread". These posts are the most annoying when replied in, because half the time, the topic is dead and useless, leaving nothing to be discussed.

Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Oh, that's another point. In most cases people won't have a problem if pinned topics are revived, since they're visible anyway. Just make sure that the post is relevant, and that the thing that the post is about isn't completely irrelevant by now.
Pinned topics are the ones that appear above all the other topics on a board, and a mod or admin has pinned them there because they're considered imporant in some way.
