For a few days I will be monitoring the load on the server caused by QS, and it will most likely not be a problem to us at all. Once this is confirmed I will start another game and turn the current one into a newbie game. The new one will have a larger map (both physically in dimensions and in the number of systems) and may be enhanced in a few other ways.

Also, I will probably change the maint intervals from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes (maybe even less). That will be determined later.

Following the second game and when we receive more traffic, I plan to create a deathmatch game that will reset more frequently though will move much more quickly.

Anyway, this is only the beginning, and I thank everyone for their patience with our previous situation.

A big prblem with maints every 5 seconds is that chances are if you leave it overnight you'll be dead in the morning, and you need to be on constantly to keep a good view on what is happening. So much happens in an hour if you leave it. The original game was a good speed, and this one I find very fast (but still quit a good speed) if it goes much faster, people that cannot get online for even 1 day will not have a chance.

Like me.. Give us non-compulsive QS players a chance.

If I make more maints I will decrease the changes made with each maint. For example, instead of gaining 10 turns every 20 minutes, you can gain 5 turns every 10 minutes (hypothetical). I understand what you're saying though, and right now I'm saying that it could happen, though if it causes problems doesn't need to take effect.

If everyone would like I can change it back to the way it was (or maybe somewhere in between). Just let me know what you think.

I agree with what they are saying. I sleep at night, and can't get online until school starts, so I waste a lot of time there. It would be worse for someone who can't get online everyday.

Ok, I changed it back to every 30 minutes for now. If anyone has suggestions for maint timing, please let me know here.

Things are just like that Cspace. You need to have some sort of "Sleep Guard" so players can go neutral when they are offline. Otherwise certain people wipe entire races out in mere seconds.

Of course, we could just have an agreement with all teh players that you post in the forum if they are asleep, and if someone attacks that person in their sleep, they are reset FIREdevil.gif

Meh, I like Zolly's idea. And I think we should have faster maints so we can get our turns back after we have a lot of ships and run into a black hole! arcadefreak.gif

Eventually I think we could squeeze some roleplay out of this. I personally want to run a game when Cspace has everything worked out and knows how to modify ships and their different values as well as planets, etc. and startign ships, a roleplay where you start off in a small transport vessel. Then, you can mine regularily (Mining rate will be around 10) And the ships are fairly expensive. There would be plenty of random events and items would be for sale at the used item store.

Basically it'd be trying to squeeze more strategy and roleplay, while depending on the aspects of the game we all love.

Of course, there would be quests in which you would win things...

If you get attacked while you sleep, live with it.

I do. I am (well, i assume i am) on top of OMN's hitlist. I was first bloo din this game, and half my fleet was wiped out. I got over it within a minute.

Killing is half the part of this game. No on eis going to sympahise with me when i get killed, which is gonna be one helluva lot of times.

Get Over It.

You were the first ones we saw to get out of newbie safety. We would have slaughtered anyone grnwink.gif Trust me bluetongue.gif

Zolon is likely referring to last game. When he was away for 3 days, we killed every last ship that he or anyone else in his clan owned. Made him a bit mad.

Okay, first off...no need to get worked up. Second, it must have been cloaked, so I had no way of knowing of it.

It was, it turns out I found his 17k skirmisher in another system, so that wasn't the ship that was cloaked. grnwink.gif
