I barely knew New Zealand existed before the LotR movies came out. Sure, I'd heard the name of the country before, but yeah, it's definitely raised awareness.

Yeah, Hercules and Xena were made in NZ but they didnt exactly say "THIS SHOW WAS MADE IN NZ" but the Lord of The Rings did (sorta).

I know a lot (everything bluetongue.gif) about a lot (everything bluetongue.gif), so I had a pretty large understanding of New Zealand. The movies did nothing for me, but I am sure that it had increased awareness for others.

Well I've actually been there, so not for me, but generally it has raised awareness. It's such a massive phenomenon that wherever it was filmed would get quite a bit of publicity, but especially when it's as unexpected a move as filming it in NZ.

Well, when you live somewhere for 13 years, there's not much that can raise awareness of that place, so for me it hasn't raised awareness at all...But I'd say it has for the rest of the world.

Also, the Last Samurai was made here.

Great debate Traver. Next time, read the Mandate of Crescens:

Aye, Last Samurai was made here. See that big snowy rok in it? That is mount Taranaki. But it has been retarded by CG so it looks like Mt Fuji in the movie.
