We can try out three, and if it's hard for them to attend events (not their faults of course), then we should be able to add more. |
Exactly, and if it is enough of a problem we can change the system as well if necessary.

Actually, most of the complaints I hear about meetings involve random people who won't leave, SeeDs not shutting up for announcements (that's a pretty big one

My suggestion is to hold meetings on #SeeDchat. Random people are much less common, and can be kicked if necessary. The room can be muted if people really aren't quiet enough, although it's also far easier to get a message across for people to quiet down than it is on Runescape. And of course they can be meetings for all of SeeD, not just the runescape faction. The added benefit is that it will get Chat some activity, and hopefully get people into the habit of using it.
Naturally events on RS can spring from there once the meeting is over, or people can just continue chatting on Chat.
As far as leaders go, to a certain degree the meetings could be self-led. Either a chat OP or a specially designated and Voiced member could lead things, but mostly that would just involve giving everyone a chance to voice any news they might have that they wanted others to hear. Sometimes Cspace might be able to pop in and tell us what he's working on, or perhaps me might have something he wants another to tell on his behalf. I think it's important to give members a chance at announcing things though, it helps making the meetings more self-sufficient and also lets people chat with people that they might normally not see much of.
Or that's my idea, anyway.

If this does pick up, i wouldnt mind being a leader of it, i could organize some meetings on the weekends and stuff like that ^_^
As for goto's idea, Kinda makes sense to have actual meetings and stuff on chat

^^really should put that in more of my posts....

If you really want to then post it in event forum

Yea. If we're gonna start weekly meetings, gotta get event forum active first.

I agree with Goto about the SeeD Chat thing. We should meet up in SeeD Chat since there's no distractions and "waiting for people to run over to the meeting spot", but once we're all settled in there and have had discussions we should move into RS and get an event going.
Once we've moved itno other factions we can announce what events are in occuring in what. So someone could we're doing "so-and-so" in RS, meet at "blah-blah" to join in. Then another could set up an event for another game we have a faction in. That's after we get the factions up. I suggest we stick to RuneScape first until we have some solid factions built.
For each week we can post what event will be hosted after discussions in SeeD Chat. That way people will have something to look forward to. We'd have to make sure it's diffferent most of the time so it doesn't get boring. Sure, drop parties are great and everything but for many it's just like "Mehehhhhh" since RS has been around for so long. Whenever I try out different things for events people seem to really like it, so I encourage others to do so also.

Factions could have their own in-game meetings if desired, and SeeD/CurvedSpace as a whole could have theirs on the chat perhaps. Runescape would apply for a faction meeting, so there's really no reason not to satisfy both.

Just something to chew on I guess. What I think would be good, at least with just RS in mind, is for this thread's idea(s) to be implemented for RS SeeD meetings and for the chat to be the location of the all-encompassing meetings. Those in the chat could be conducted more as discussions, while RS can potentially be a little lighter unless something is going on.
Although, the happenings in RS should first go by MoS (our faction leader there).
As for the chat meetings, I don't really see any reason not to do it.

Feel free to discuss and/or incinerate/defenestrate/decompile/explode/throw darts at these ideas.

Plus, it's much more fun to have things ingame, and 'roleplay', rather than watching text scroll past....
