In this post, I will show you the basics on how you should post in DS or in any other forum RPG for that matter.
God Modding
God Modding is where you do something with the mod telling you have done so, in other words, if you attack a person, you say you hit the person without the mod actually telling you did.
Instead of: I slice his head off.
You should say: I try to slice his head off.
God Modding should be avoided at all times even when stats are not involved.
Emoticons
Emoticons should not be used in an RP. Some people will complain that it helps express your feeling, but unless you have a five-word vocabulary, you should not use them. Using them in OOCs are alright, however.
Instead of: I step on his decapitated head, crushing it gruesomely.
You should say: I step on his decapitated head, crushing it gruesomely, grinning like a devil.
Word Shortcuts
You shouldn't use word shortcuts as it makes your RP post look very childish. Once again, OOCs are alright. Don't use 1337 SP34K either (I think that's how it's done).
YM: It's 1337 Sp34k!
RK: Oh shart up
.Instead of: Omg, W00tage, I P4WZ0Red J00!
You should say: Oh my god, I whooped your turkey!
YM: Or, : Oh MY GOD!!!! I bapped the turkey out of you!!!
And speaking of shortcuts, donotputallthewordsinasentenceinonebigword. In case you didn't get that, don't put all the words in a sentence in one big word.
Basic RPing Skill
Now you know how not to post, you should learn how to post. When you are talking, use the "talking marks" to indicate it. If you are thinking something, usually you italize it. If you are indication an action, you either put nothing at all, ::two colons:: or italize it. These differ from person to person, but these are the basics.
